MDMA Phase 3 Trials For PTSD (FDA APPROVED!)

in #drugs7 years ago

“Moving from phase two to phase three shows we have strong scientific reason to believe that MDMA is an effective treatment for PTSD in therapy. The fact the FDA is ready to move forward with phase three signals that they agree,” said Brad Burge, from the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (Maps), a not-for-profit based in Santa Cruz, California, that has spearheaded efforts to turn MDMA into a medicine.

"Starting this year, phase-three clinical trials for MDMA will begin with a goal of ultimately enrolling somewhere between 200 and 250 patients across 14 sites in the U.S., Canada, and Israel. Emerson, the former pharmaceutical researcher who is leading the study, is focused on maintaining its scientific integrity. "We want to do everything up to snuff," she says. "There can be no question about our methods." MAPS has jumped through numerous hoops since Grob submitted his first protocol in the early '90s, and the group has more work to do. But the end is in sight.

In May, Doblin met with the FDA to go over MAPS' protocol for its stage-three trial. After the meeting, Doblin emailed his staff with good news: "Every single thing we proposed was acceptable to FDA." He signed his email, "happily, Rick.”"

What do you think our kids will witness in their lifetimes? I definitely think they'll see MDMA and LSD/Ketamine/Psylocybin clinics for sure.

I fucking hope so haha if they're still hooked on opioids and amphetamines I am going to be one angry old dude. Its up to us to keep spreading the good word like the parents that are open and honest about their mind expanding experiences throughout the 1960 - 70's.

dont forget about the Canna Oil of course

on topic: this is great news.

And that's big money right there!

In Holland we allready have it. Just kidding. But here it is more accepted then in many other countries. Which is nice.

Just speculation/opinion but I'd bet MD and Psylocybin are the most robust candidates. LSD and Ketamine have solid potential but I see those encountering more bumps in the road.... :D Any of them could have effective use cases, but the same risks are present with these substances, to an extent, that are present with the current pharmaceutical industry if it ever got to the point of distributing prescriptions instead of controlled therapy. I do see immense value in the possibility of replacing prescriptions with therapy for many people struggling with stress, anxiety, ptsd, ect.

I'd definitely like to see legalization over prescriptions, but as I said the whole therapy aspect is really cool.

For sure, these are powerful tools!

:)

MAPS has been doing a great job pushing for this but it can not stop at them we the people need to push for it too marijuana has been illegal for so long in the US federally but we are changing with states legalizing it and we should stop at weed we must push for these other substances that are much safer to something such as xanax or opiates that can help with trauma stress anxiety and PTSD. The future is looking bright.

Awesome. I was diagnosed with Asperger's, and was pretty shy with non-crippling social anxiety and body dysmorphia; I researched MDMA and rolled a few times as a teen. Ever since my first roll, my social anxiety has been dang near nil. It completely broke the shit down.

This is amazing news.

How many times have you tried MDMA in your life?

great work! keep it up!

MDMA can definetly help people with PTSD and mental disorders. Good news.

I had no idea this was happening :o wow!

Welcome to the future :)

Interesting, not surprising. I think people should have access to meds/drugs that work. If it works, why not??

In the end all of drugs will be legal. There will be a time where human beings will have 100% power in their life's decisions. Certainly they'll have a place to do such practices, even will create businesses where people can get a nice trip for hours or days. Great Research by the way. Cheers!
