Savaged by Trump Supporters (for speaking up)

On the eve of Trump’s impeachment vote I was heartened to see massive protests, across the country in the USA, such as this one in New York, above.

Meanwhile, typically, the dangerous clown in the White House was gloating on Twitter, willfully oblivious and downplaying the sentiment of mass dissent.

So, in an act of willful provocation, I posted the following comment on his Facebook page —- in an effort to hold up a reality mirror to the bully-in-chief and his followers:

I, seriously, underestimated the level of vitriol that I would receive, which is still streaming in. Below, is a peek at the bigotry party going on at his virtual space:

And, for (dark) comic relief, this sick joker:

It turns out my Deranged Snowman poem proved prophetic—-even though when I wrote this piece I had not been subject to such vile animosity, personally, before.

The hate is real and ugly — anyone who still maintains this president does not traffick in xenophobia & Islamophobia is willfully blind.

So, I posted once more on Trump’s page, notifying the trolls of my intention to write about this unfortunate experience.

Feeling strangely detached reading all these vicious responses & marveling at how quickly the discussion devolved into name-calling of the worst sort.

Incidentally, I never said that I was either an immigrant or a Muslim; they simply assumed it based on my name and profile picture:

I can’t help but meditate on how Trump is a symptom of a deep sickness in AmeriKKKa’s psyche and the collective state of our sad, mad world. Also how, for better or worse, we’re all connected and there is no escape from dealing with our joint problems.

I, now, see that I left Egypt in order to deal with this mess!

Sort:

First, I don't identify as a Trump supporters per se but rather one that believes his policy has been more favorable to American versus foreign interests, generally speaking.

I think his recent executive order was an affront to free speech for a certain country that Conservatives seem to have an unusual affinity towards which will not be named.

Anyways, sorry you had to deal with asshats. We can disagree and be civil. I'm def not a Trump fanboy but I think he is most assuredly better than the alternative.

Anyways, ad hominem isn't cool. It just a way people demonstrate their ignorance.

Thank you, for your civilized and sympathetic comment.

There is a way to look out for national interests, while not promoting fear and hatred as Trump does.

As an Egyptian, American & global citizen, I know that we are diminished, culturally & spiritually, when we close our hearts to Others 🙏🏼

I think the most important thing for Americans right now should preserving our country, our values, our way of life, and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution.

Unfortunately, native born Americans are being replaced with masses that don't regard those freedoms (some do but few and far between according to polls). No doubt, many are drawn by the welfare state that the politicians use to stay in power.

It's a screwed up cycle and in the end it's the regular Joe American that is gonna suffer... while the dirt bag politicians relax in their gated communities. What happens if the welfare programs ever run out of resources?

Think that would be the SHTF event and just thinking about it is terrible.

With Olguin being a Spanish surname and Wooten being anglo-saxon, I can't help but enjoy the irony of both asking someone else to "go back to where they come from", for more than one reason.

Oh, good point; I hadn’t even noticed!
But I did notice a certain perversion of human nature: that people are cruelest when they ought to be kindest —- namely, when others are losing a battle they’ve fought & won, before.

Such is the case with some immigrants..

yikes. I mean I suppose it isn't surprising when the hornet's nest is stirred to see the nasty little buggers come out to sting, but that doesn't make the bile any easier to swallow.

I dunno, Carl... One would think that the public page of a sitting president of a first world country would not tolerate such flat out nastiness —- but, then again, they take their cue from their hateful leader. Sigh

Sorry to hear about the vitriolic and xenophobic behavior that people responded with. I can't truly understand how people are that low and think that comments like that are warranted.

Thank you, for your compassion and solidarity. Dark times... Unfortunately, being behind a screen gives cowards courage and, of course they are emboldened by the exemplary behavior of Trump himself :/ The way I see it, violence (thoughts, words, deeds) is not only a failure of imagination but confession of defeat.

If they had better arguments, they'd use them. Instead, they lash out, in this vicious way. Oh well, sweet dreams and may you be out of harm's way _/|\_

Yeah, a screen really does help hide someone. It's sad though that they seamlessly jump on the bandwagon of hate without really thinking about it.

Hope you manage to stay out of harm's way as well
