Vermont Establishes Cannabis Commission To Help With Legalization
The Vermont Governor, Phil Scott, just this week signed an executive order that created a 13-member Marijuana Advisory Commission.
This group is going to be tasked with trying to find the best way for the state to move forward with plans for legalization of cannabis for recreational use.
The move to create the committee is curious, considering that it was only a couple of months ago that Gov. Phil Scott had vetoed an effort that was seeking to legalize cannabis for recreational use in the state.
Since then he has insisted that he isn't philosophically opposed to cannabis, he just wanted to see changes made to the bill.
At the moment, cannabis is currently decriminalized in the state of Vermont and viewed as a civil infraction for those who are caught possessing 1 ounce of cannabis or less. As well, cannabis has also been approved for medical use and there have been repeated efforts from officials in the state to try and introduce legislation surrounding the legalization of recreational cannabis in the past but they've ultimately failed.
The committee might seem like a step forward to some, but it's a shame that so much time needs to be wasted and that it has taken this long to try and sort out how to allow other people to exercise their natural rights and freedom. Meanwhile, there are people whose quality of life is lowered because they can't access something that might help them. Or they are risking jail time if they do try to access something that can help them.
Inevitably, the reluctance of lawmakers in the state to embrace the freedom for the people to choose whether or not they want to consume cannabis, causes people unnecessary harm and suffering.
Dozens of states have already introduced their own rules surrounding cannabis legalization and it's suggested that it's only a matter of time before the US as a whole makes the move in this direction. The newly created cannabis commission in Vermont is expected to hold its first meeting in October and they will be expected to put a report together by January of next year.

It makes sense. With legalization coming to Canada in the next year or so we'll see more northern states voting bills to make it legal. Otherwise they'll have to deal with tons of people crossing the border to get legal cannabis and bringing it back home.
Plus we all know it was going to happen eventually state by state once California made it legal. The main problem I see ahead in the States is solving the issue of weed still being illegal at the federal level. With Trump in office I don't see that coming any time soon and until then cannabis business won't be able get credit cards or pay taxes like any other legit company.

This is awesome man, Im from Uruguay and here cannabis is legal since 2014.
I can tell you this was one of the bests things that could happened here related to drugs and consumption. Not only the quality of the weed has reach an amazing standard, no more going to the suburbs to buy, no more smoking chemical things. I also made a post about my last big harvest, all organic and natural. You can check It on my blog if you want, I don't like to post my own links in comments.
