Reviewhunt: Generating Millions Of Dollars In Business On Steem
Reviewhunt is a business model built on Steem that is taking off. It is the second leg of the three phase implementation by @steemhunt. While still in pre-signup, the numbers are growing.
A week ago, the team announced the release of Reviewhunt. This started the process of Hunters being able to sign up to get approved to review products and applications. The company was also taking bookings from companies seeking to use the service.
At that time, there were commitments of over $10,000 a month.

The other day, the company put out an announcement which stated the commitments grew to $64,000 a month.
It seems the team should have waited a few days. I took a look at the Reviewhunt site this morning and noticed the amount grew a bit more.
There are now 42 companies committed to spending over $400K per month with Reviewhunt. This is $5M a year in business that is committed to taking place on the Steem blockchain.
For those who are not familiar with how this works, Reviewhunt is a site that allows companies to have their technological products and applications reviewed. The Steemhunt platform has assembled a "team" of Hunters who are all interested in technology and experienced in finding it. This is what the year long phase of Steemhunt did. It allowed users to find, rate, and comment on technological products and applications found on the web.
Now, the idea is to solicit companies that are trying to create a buzz around their products. Reviewhunt is a place for them to target their marketing dollars utilizing the interested parties already on that platform. The team stated there are roughly 20K Hunters who participated. This is a group that could create a nice buzz around a product.
The HUNT token is the currency and I can foresee some buying pressure. When you have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of monthly business being done, and requiring the token, that is going to set a floor. This is one of the unique features of Crypto-Economics and HUNT hodlers stand to benefit.
Hunters who review the products will be rewarded either in HUNT or perhaps through a discount on the products. Either way, they are incentivized to look at the products/applications and providing feedback.
Many ask what is blockchain/cryptucurrency used for. The consensus seems to be that there are no real world use cases. Steemhunt is proving that to be untrue. Here is a project that is bringing in Fiat money to the Steem ecosystem through a real business initiative. They are not depending upon the value of the token to finance operations.
When you think about it, all of these companies had money to spend. They could have opted for magazine ads or place their money with Google/facebook. Instead, they chose to take at least a part of it and direct it towards Steem. The idea of promotion is something that was at the core of the Steem ecosystem. Here we see companies that are willing to pay for it.
This is the type of stuff that is going to make Steem grow. Those who were here early and got involved in this project stand to gain as a participant going forward. Over time, we should see more people on-board and use the platform. This will only enhance what Steemhunt is offering to the companies they talk to.
Imagine the results when they can go out and say we have 250K Hunters reviewing products instead of 20K.
The model is there and showing some early success.

Man I just have to keep believe that I am making the right moves putting all kinds of money into steem power... i just feel its the right move
I can't argue against your logic since I am doing the same thing. I am looking for another entry point. I think I have two more purchases if the price of STEEM drops a bit more.

I'm really impressed. 5 Million dollars is huge for a Steem blockchain app.
I would agree. And they are just getting started.
Consider the possibility of their users growing to, let's say 100K. The company could target some big players to run their products through. A couple hundred thousand people could create quite a buzz.
Call me a cynic, but Steemhunt saying this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.
A cynic. 🙂
It is a valid point. This could all be fluff. Of course, the fact they started posted where they stood from the day the site was released does lend some validity. They would lose a lot of trust if it all turned out to be b.s.
We will have to wait and see what appears when the Reviewing does go live.

Thanks for your opinion. As I replied below, it is written correctly in Korean, but in English version was clear. Will fix the sentence. Thanks again!
This is a great use case and really exciting product, but like @preparedwombat I am also very skeptical of these numbers. When you click to "pre-sign up as a maker" it just has you fill in a few fields and the last one is "How much is your monthly marketing budget?".
The number they show for the pre-sign up monthly spend is simply just a sum of what people put in that field. I could go and type in $1,000,000 right now and it would show that the monthly spend would be $1,422,456.
Since there's literally no commitment behind those numbers, they don't mean anything. Also I noticed that the question asks "How much is your monthly marketing budget?" and not how much would you plan to spend with ReviewHunt.
So even if you assume that all the data entered is real/correct, all that is saying is that companies with a combined total of $400k+ in monthly marketing budgets filled out that form. It's completely unclear what, if any funds are planned to be spent with ReviewHunt.
So unfortunately my take is that they are being extremely misleading and disingenuous with showing that information in the way they are on their site, and it's given me a large amount of distrust and disappointment in a project that I would otherwise find fantastic.
It seems the wording on the form "How much is your monthly marketing budget?" is also ambiguous, because it's asked on Reviewhunt sites, many companies actually put the numbers they're planning to spend on Reviewhunt (I see many small numbers like $50-$1,000 from big companies we know that they spend more at least more than 10 times of that numbers they put on our forms).
Anyway, I really appreciate your feedback, and we have just updated the site to make that point clear.
Cool, that clears up the confusion

Thanks for your opinion. Actually in Korean version ("매달 총 마케팅 예산 $427,556 규모의 53개의 회사가 리뷰헌트에 사전 가입했습니다.") was correct, but the translated sentence in English was unclear. We will fix it.
Wow! Impressive demand that could start a cycle of users wanting to review and products and companies looking for reviews!

It could have serious impact for Steem. We will see what the numbers come in at and how they grow.
It is exciting to see that before they launch.

ReviewHunt will be one of the top projects on blockchain. One with a real use!
Hard to argue with that logic @jwolf. The scaling of that application is straight forward. Most active users will bring in larger companies.
It is one that I am willing to state will be a winner.
