BE WORTHY

Hi friends steemians, Respect is a foundation on which ethics and morals are based in any field and at any time. Trying to explain what is respect, is a difficult task, but we can see in the day to day where it is: attitudes, words, works, etc. To respect someone is to treat them according to their dignity. This proper dignity requires of others an adequate behavior, so that the voluntary disrespect is an injustice, for breach of that duty. On the other hand, where there is respect, a cordial and friendly atmosphere reigns, and predisposes to dialogue and understanding of its components.

As a virtue, it can be conceived as the moral maturation of the corresponding feeling that does not ignore the stated principle. Because respect not only refers to that moral imperative and its fundamental value of dignity. It also refers to feeling. This manifests itself in expressions such as FULANO instills in me respect or I feel respect for you or for what you have done.

In the first place, going to contemplate our differences of condition, some involuntary, others voluntary (being a woman or man, having one religion or another, or none, having been born in one country or another, having a sexual orientation or another, being of a political party or other, etc.), the feeling of respect is experienced as empathic respect to what people are, whether or not there is identification of who respects what they are. As a respect, also, to the right to be different, with everything that implies this. I feel respect for you in what you are, as belonging to such a group, I respect your right to be.

In the second place, respect can be directed to the opinions and actions that, motivated by their free decisions, are carried out by the specific people, more or less connected to these resituations in identity groups. Also to global achievements that have been achieved with constant actions in a given direction. I feel respect for what you have done, even if I do not agree with it; I recognize your right to do so. I feel respect for what you have become. If respect is empathic, you can move towards dialogue and cooperation.
