Interactive painting contest #3: Niflheim

in #art7 years ago

Looking for a little interaction here on steemit! I present you a painting of mine, along with a little story, with the contest being that you can fill in the ____ blanks and create a weird, wonderful, little story of your own in the comments. I will divide the SBD of the post's payout at my own judgement among the contestants after payout.

This was episode 1: Mystery Man
This was episode 2: And Then There Were Two of Us

Episode 2 was a shared victory for @mrfrost and @fraenk - both entries were equally good, so I decided to do a mashup between the two stories. You can find the original stories in the comments of episode 2.

So, last week's painting with the mashed-up story:

Now that Mystery Man had met himself (again), they both found themselves lost in time.
"Do you see anything on your side?" Mystery Man 1 asked Mystery Man 2, "I'm seeing everything different but nothing changed at all."
Mystery Man 2 peered into the darkness and suddenly whispered: "Quiet. I see her, there she is: Mahakali, the goddess of time and death. I have to go and deliver the..."
But Mystery Man 1 couldn't hear him anymore, he was off on his own into his corridor. The last thing Mystery Man 2 saw was a vision of his 2 children. One a boy, one a girl, drawing something in what seemed to be snow. It wasn't a mathematical formula but it did look like it. It was something unlike anything he had ever seen.
Then all became black...

And this is this week's painting, Niflheim (Niflheim II, for those who have been following my blog):

Make a comment with the blanks filled in to enter the contest. Make a fascinating story, anything goes!

Whether it took a few seconds or several aeons, he couldn't say - but Mystery Man 2 saw light in the blackness. He felt ____, (how did he feel?)
but as the landscape slowly lit up, he recognized Niflheim: the realm ____ (what is the realm about?)
Had he died? No, because he ____ (what did he do?)
It was time to ____ (time for what?)
He quickly ____ (did what?)

Have fun!

(_following @fraenk's suggestion, I have my own version of the story written down, and will post it when the contest is over!)

Okay, trying this out...

"Whether it took a few seconds or several aeons, he couldn't say - but Mystery Man 2 saw light in the blackness. He felt DOUR, but as the landscape slowly lit up, he recognized Niflheim: the realm gasped in wonder...
Had he died? No, because he farted just now, which made him giggle...
It was time to take a digestion pill!
He quickly searched for his mortar and pestle, trying to recall his grandmother's herbal recipe to calm the vapors...
If he was dead, his grandmother would surely be here to whisper the recipe in his ear...
Alas! Only a three-legged crow was nearby, cackling like it knew some punchline...

Awesome and funny, thanks!

Whether it took a few seconds or several aeons, he couldn't say - but Mystery Man 2 saw light in the blackness. He felt dizzy, but as the landscape slowly lit up, he recognized Niflheim: the realm of shades.
Had he died? No, because he still gasped for breath.
It was time to look for Mystery Man 1.
He quickly turned around...

Glad to see you join in, thanks!

Things are picking up around here. Here's my twist for this week:

Whether it took a few seconds or several aeons, he couldn't say - but Mystery Man 2 saw light in the blackness. He felt the formula suddenly making sense, but he wasn't able to make sense of it. It had taken over his subconscious thoughts, rewired his neurons, it had materialised as a natural sense of truth within himself.

But as the landscape slowly lit up, he recognized Niflheim: the realm of mist. He was close to it's far edges, he could sense the steam of creation emanating from beyond the horizon.

Had he died? No, because he still had things to accomplish. His briefcase, where was his briefcase? He must have lost it before the visions had overcome him. Maybe that was the point, maybe he really didn't need all these things.

It was time to put his newfound understanding to use.

He quickly gathered his breath and hurried calmly through the mist, onwards to the horizon.

Impressive and extensive! Another awesome continuation, yet leaving alot to the imagination, thanks @fraenk!

(btw, you do know steemd records all edits to your comment? It shows the amount of work you've put in! Much appreciated, danke schön!)

haha, thanks... and yeah i know the edits are recorded :P

it's just that i fail to read properly while text is still in the input field and only find the small mistakes and weird wordings after posting.

I don't think there's too many posts I've ever made on steemit that haven't seen multiple small (or sometimes even extensive) edits.

edit: this comment shall not be an exception!

Hehe, nice one! I just brought it up because I thought I received 5 comments of you, when in fact it was just one, haha

Whether it took a few seconds or several aeons, he couldn't say - but Mystery Man 2 saw light in the blackness. He felt fuzzy inside, (how did he feel?)
but as the landscape slowly lit up, he recognized Niflheim: the realm __Nefeline, the land of talking cat’s (what is the realm about?)
Had he died? No, because he spotted the girl, whom transformed in front of his eyes to a beautiful white cat. (what did he do?) he gasped in misbeief.
It was time to __try and talk with the girl that transformed in a cat. (time for what?)
He quickly __looked at his hands (did what?)

The universal answer to everything in life: cats!

Hey you all, you might want to unfollow my old account @charisma11. @drydoc46 hijacked my account and trasferred funds from my account to theirs. I now have this account @charisma1.

This may be taking a whole new course, awesome, thanks for your entry @charisma11!

I try :)

Great to see you back with a new game featuring your brilliant art and storytelling. Sorry I missed the beginning. I had a steem free weekend. Hope your interactive painting works out well!

Thanks, feel free to join in if you have inspiration!

Didn't you pocket me something a while back?! Where exactly did that go?

Still with you/in the blockchain, this explains it best I think: https://steemit.com/pocket/@biophil/pocket-announcement
