What Have We Become?
These past few days have been a revelation for me. I’ve always known the media — both print and television — to be powerful tools of information, but I never quite grasped the depth of responsibility that comes with reporting until now.
It’s not just about stating facts. It’s about how those facts are presented, which ones are chosen, and which ones are left out. It's about credibility. About intention. About the ethics behind every headline. I've come to understand how dangerous disinformation and misreporting can be — not only when the truth is completely hidden, but when it is twisted, half-told, or strategically edited to fit a certain narrative. There's a difference between reporting truth and reporting your version of the truth. Even the truth, when told selectively, becomes a tool of manipulation. And what's scarier? Most of us don’t even realize it — until we find ourselves personally affected. Until something happens close to us, and we see the contrast between lived experience and what’s being portrayed. That’s when it hits you: what does reporting even mean anymore? There is a profound importance in saying the truth even when it doesn’t serve your side. That’s what real integrity looks like. That’s what journalism is supposed to be. But so often, it gets lost in the race for ratings, influence, or political alignment. The television coverage of the conflict wasn’t reportage—it was theatre. Prime-time debates turned into shouting matches. Newsrooms abandoned facts for frenzy. Anchors behaved like generals, issuing war cries instead of asking questions. The editorial voice of reason was sadly missing. The crisis exposed the decadence that has crept into Indian media institutions, and an absolute abdication of editorial responsibility. The media holds immense power. It can amplify voices, or silence them. It can shed light, or blur realities. And in that balance hangs the right of every citizen to know — really know — what’s going on around them. We must demand better. And we must, in whatever ways we can, be better — more critical, more questioning, more aware. Because staying silent in the face of misrepresentation is also a form of complicity.

This is a person explaining how the media fueled and encouraged war hysteria in their country — and how they defeated us in the war of misinformation and warmongering.
Social Media??? When Humanity Is Sold!
Well, this is a whole different debate.
For clicks, for content monetization — how low can people sink? How far are they willing to go?
This is the first time I’ve noticed it all so closely and sharply.
Even those who closely followed the recent nightly air battles between India and Pakistan might have missed some of the most earth-shattering developments. They may not know that the Indian navy launched strikes on Karachi’s port; that India’s army crossed the international border; that Pakistan’s prime minister fled to a bunker; that its army chief was deposed in a coup. These events were nowhere to be found in India’s newspapers or even in supposedly reliable Western journals. Why?
Because none of these things happened. That did not stop Indian broadcast news from reporting each confection as fact, while sirens blared and animated fighter jets zoomed in the background. One presenter helpfully reassured viewers that “All information coming in goes through a system of vetting”. If news segments were merely outrageous, commentary was unhinged. One anchor demanded: “Set fire to Karachi, blow up the entire city.” On another channel a former army officer called Iran’s foreign minister a “son of a pig”, triggering a minor diplomatic incident. Over the past few weeks Indian television achieved the astonishing feat of making social media appear sane.

It doesn’t take much for a human to become a beast...
And it takes even less to be bought and sold.
I never truly realized this until now.
These people are nothing but a stain on the name of humanity.
Many of you might already know the context of what I’m talking about.
And no, I’m not saying that such people don’t exist on our side — or that this is happening only across the border.
But the way their media added fuel to the fire…
Spreading hate, igniting a war frenzy among the public —
For what? Just for money? For loyalty to the ruling party?
To glorify something as horrifying as war, to stir violent emotions in people?
This is the lowest, most disgraceful insult to humanity.
Such people aren’t even worthy of being called human.
So heartless. So selfish.
I’m angry.
I’m still angry.
And I can’t find my way back to my creative space.
Why?
Why such brutality?
How far can a human being go?
Is there no limit anymore?
Has something replaced the heart in a person’s chest?
Something that makes them capable of such cruelty?
Is there no sense left of responsibility? No concept of accountability?
What the media has done —
The chaos, the divisions, the violence they’ve fueled —
It's not just a mistake.
It’s a permanent stain.
A scar on our collective conscience.
This won’t be forgotten.
And it won’t be forgiven.
Generations to come will suffer because of this vileness.
Because of these actions completely devoid of ethics, of humanity.
This isn’t just about one event, one news piece, or one side.
This is about what happens when people with power choose profit over truth,
Clicks over compassion,
And rage over reason.
I’m still angry.
And maybe I should be.
✌🏻 Peace over War: Today and always!
You should be! (angry)
When I was young, military service in my country was obligatory.
The army picked my university degree and harnessed it so somehow I ended that obligatory service as a lieutenant. (that's middle-ranking officers here)
The reason I share this is as I have military degree once I completed this I didn't want to have anything more to do with army. Or war. Or everything related.
However, I am entitled to criticize ;)
Some will say it is necessary to own weapons, strictly for defensive purposes.
I don't agree, as weapon manufacturing around the world is getting out of control and out of hand. It is too much. The most of the countries in Europe are now practically forced to increase dramatically the military budget.
This appears to be the most profitable business and piling more and more weapons and ammo always leads to something worse.
As my country is the poorest in EU, it will inevitable become the backyard for manufacturing the dirtiest parts and components.
Not sure why I use future tense here, though... it's already a fact.
The optimist, living in me, wants all the wars to stop permanently, the realist, though, says it isn't possible as that business just needs more blood and hatred to continue to thrive.
All roots of evil are power and money...
Now, time to send you good vibes! Stay safe!
And to think I believed I was the only one feeling this way. The news lately has been weighing heavily on me—reports about who owns what kind of missile, which country is testing which weapon. It’s unsettling. Every announcement of a new arms acquisition feels like a step closer to catastrophe. Are we really advancing, or are we simply inching toward our own destruction?
But then again, how else will the world’s most profitable and dangerous business—the arms industry—sustain itself? War, fear, and weapons are its fuel. Peace isn’t profitable, after all.
And what exactly is the endgame of all this territorial conquest? How much land is enough? This obsession with power, the addiction to dominance—it’s terrifying. How do these people sleep at night, knowing they have the blood of countless innocents on their hands?
Every nation has its own set of internal struggles—poverty, education, healthcare, justice. If only governments would focus on fixing those, maybe the world wouldn’t be in this constant state of unrest. Why the constant urge to meddle in others’ affairs? Why not just look inward and heal what's broken at home first?

Unfortunately I believe we are racing towards self-destruction.
I feel partly guilty about all that happens. While "regular" people do nothing and mostly complain on social networks, psychopaths or let's say, people who are never satisfied nor happy, or just have psychological issues, run countries and armies to imaginary goals.
I can tell that governments (and presidents, where they are the main authority) are, in general, impotent to resolve the most important issues. Perhaps that's why they search for external enemy to divert the attention, until they find such one. Sad to draw that conclusion, but it seems like every means to stay in power...

Not "perhaps", most "definitely"!
The person behind this "false flag" operation has been in power for over a decade and will go to any lengths to stay there. It's a pity. He's used such tactics before — only a psychopath would resort to this.
This may sound political, though it's not my intent — it's simply the reality. When someone clings to power for over a decade and employs questionable tactics to maintain control, it raises serious concerns. History has seen such strategies before, often driven by desperation or obsession, not governance.

Sometimes I think the only brakes stopping democratically elected leaders becoming dictators are the finite number of mandates... 😎🤣
Obviously power corrupts everyone with time...

Actually, the EU is without weapons and it takes at least 15 years to replace what we gave away. Let that info sink. For sure you know what that means. I assume that if there will be a day you have to defend yourself perhaps sticks and stones are left. No way you can do it with words but of course you can also give up on your culture, and simply adapt whomever conquors since in the end it's all the same.
Well, I live not so far away from one of the biggest ranges in the country and just until a couple of years ago I could here the artillery trainings once an year. Since the RU-UA war started, I hear them very often. Not sure where you get that info from, but I am sure EU has weapons. Far from enough, that is out of question, but then, how much is enough?
I hope we don't have to use sticks and stones but if anyone pushes any of those red nuclear buttons, we will be forced then. Too bad this seems more and more probable lately.
Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe, est. 681, we've been occupied for 2 centuries by Byzantines, then for five centuries by the Ottomans and then for 45 years by the communist (some of them still rule but with money instead of ideology), so we have some experience. Those centuries had put breaks in the development of the country, though, one of the reasons we are one of the poorest countries in EU. How a common Bulgarian thinks is quite different from how the Westerners think.
One example to illustrate the mindset - 85% of the population owns a property and the most just keep their money in the banks, no interest rates and monthly fees. I bet less than 1% have stocks and/or crypto :)

The development is not entirely new... The Cold War worked in exactly the same way; even in earlier times, entire societies were manipulated, moulded and influenced in this way. In addition, in the past, when there was still real, upright journalism, people studied for a long time and learnt things like evaluating statistics, tracking (and protecting) sources, checking plausibility... Today, anyone who can publish a YouTube video calls themselves a journalist. Propaganda, whether intentional or out of ignorance, is one of the most damaging phenomena that can affect a human community. It always has a destructive and lasting effect.

You're absolutely right — this kind of manipulation isn't new at all. Whether done knowingly or out of ignorance, propaganda remains one of the most toxic forces in any human society — corroding trust, fuelling division, and leaving behind deep scars.
And to this, let me add — what about the role of so-called journalism that now thrives on war-mongering, hate, and venom? If you could just hear the theatrics… it's terrifying how similar our languages are, yet how utterly alien the intentions sound. One so-called anchor, on their national television, kept screaming all night that he wanted to hear the screams of Pakistanis. "I want blood," he shouted. I mean, how is this journalism? Yes, media has always had biases — I’ve known that. They push certain narratives. But this level of vileness? This utter moral collapse? I swear I’ve never witnessed anything like this before.
It's left such a bitter taste in my mouth. The illusion of a “friendly neighbour” has shattered completely. I’ve developed a deep aversion to that side — not out of hate, but out of sheer disillusionment.

Righteous anger...
I wish I could point to ways in which it's not THAT bad, but I can't, in good conscience.
The hatred in some people's hearts is difficult to understand sometimes, at least for me... but since childhood I have been part of the "why can't we all just get along " crowd.

because we are not birds of the feather and instinct tells us that who is not like us is against us.
Sadly, you are right. "Fear of the unknown" runs deep in people, and is reflected in combativeness, rather than trying to understand.
As long as I can remember, it has been that way. All papers, all news is in hand of a very small group and exactly the same. It's also how history is made up and explains why we see the world, the same events, with different eyes. We are brainwashed without any exception if we like it or not. I see it in the history books of my children and those I had.
Fooling the people is older than the road to Rome. The only one you can blame for your anger is yourself. That is what I do, although I haven't read a newspaper for at least 30 years, no television since 20 years and I have no radio playing the same tune over and over again... I noticed it a very long time ago. I it comes to fake journalism is.

psywarfare...
Yeah, the psychological warfare!
But the mainstream journalism...?
I'm speechless!
60k personals at the dod, 20k at the state departement, cost of an editor of a mainstream western journal $10k usd year... :)
