I wish I could point to ways in which it's not THAT bad, but I can't, in good conscience.
The hatred in some people's hearts is difficult to understand sometimes, at least for me... but since childhood I have been part of the "why can't we all just get along " crowd.

Sadly, you are right. "Fear of the unknown" runs deep in people, and is reflected in combativeness, rather than trying to understand.
