【Original】【Romantic Love Stories】【Do Everything to Love You】Chapter 27: Which Words Are True, and Which Are False
Although she was reluctant to admit it, Yin Shaojie undeniably had a handsome face. Finding someone more attractive than him would indeed be a challenge.
But that didn’t mean she had to start fawning over him.
She had watched his striking face grow from childhood, so by now, she should have developed immunity, right?
This was what Xiao Xiao thought, without considering that in the years since they’d last seen each other, Yin Shaojie had matured, and his childhood features had gained sharp edges, lending him a new allure.
“Humph! We’re eating on the second floor!” The girls immediately stood up, glaring at Xiao Xiao before storming off toward the stairs.
Yu Zhe shot Xiao Xiao a glance, shaking his head. “See? I told you to be quieter. You’ve only just arrived at school and you’re already making enemies. Be careful; soon, none of the girls will want to hang out with you.”
Xiao Xiao wasn’t concerned. “I don’t like pretending to be nice. Do I really have to flatter them? What’s the point of making friends that way?”
Besides, she preferred friends like Lu Yichen.
Girls who would turn against her over something as trivial as not liking Yin Shaojie weren’t the kind of people she wanted to be around. She despised the competition and pretentiousness often seen among girls.
“Alright then, what do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you,” Yu Zhe offered with consideration.
“I’ll go with you,” Xiao Xiao said, noticing the group of boys lingering behind, casting them flirtatious glances. With a sigh, she thought, how boring. Why did people always feel the need to pair off a guy and a girl together, just because they were sitting near each other?
When they returned with their food and sat down, one of the boys, having just finished his meal, teased Xiao Xiao before leaving, “Xiao Xiao, why don’t you just go out with Yu Zhe? You two look great together.”
The group of boys laughed together, their voices a mix of mischief.
Xiao Xiao rolled her eyes at them but wasn’t about to embarrass Yu Zhe in front of everyone. After spending some time with him, she had found that he was indeed a good friend.
She slung her arm over Yu Zhe’s shoulder and shot a glance at the boys, saying, “Yu Zhe is a great guy. I’ll consider it, but you guys need to stop gossiping. Don’t disturb us; hurry up and leave after you’re done.”
Since they were classmates, she didn’t want to say anything too harsh. Otherwise, with her sharp tongue, the boys would probably be scowling by now.
“Well, we’ll leave then. You guys take your time.”
Once they were gone, Yu Zhe turned to Xiao Xiao and asked, “Was what you said earlier true?”
Xiao Xiao had already withdrawn her hand and resumed eating. She glanced at him briefly, saying, “I told you, you need to learn to tell which of my words are true and which are false.”
Yu Zhe frowned, looking perplexed. “So, the last thing you said was a lie?”
He had thought she genuinely liked him and was considering a relationship with him...
Suddenly feeling a little hurt, he placed a hand over his chest and feigned a wounded expression.
“You…” Xiao Xiao wanted to say something more, but just then, she noticed Yin Shaojie walking down the stairs, his expression dark as he glanced toward their table.
She shot him a quick glare before looking at the girl he was holding.
Hmph. It was bad enough that he had the audacity to hold another girl in front of her, his legitimate wife, but to give her that look? She didn’t even care.
Treating him as though he didn’t exist, Xiao Xiao turned her head away and sweetly smiled at Yu Zhe, offering him a piece of braised pork.
With a bright smile, she commanded, “Ah, open your mouth.”
Yu Zhe looked up at her, utterly confused, as though caught off guard. “Wait... does this mean the last thing you said was true?”
