For real. I feel ya. That whole situation. Like whoa.

I, too, am super into all things weird, unexplained, paranormal and conspiracy driven and also find that the more I learn, the less I know. 😎

Now, that said... from all of the stuff and things I've consumed, I feel like I could (almost logically) explain what happened you... with absolutely no proof, simply sighting examples of similar things in our collective consciousness (fiction included).

At first... I totes (I'm an elder millineal and allowed to use that ridiculous word) thought that it most likely you were seeing some kind of left-over apparition ... kinda stuck on replay in the matrix (if you will). As that seems to be a relatively common occurrence. Feel free to use whatever terms make you most comfortable... a ghost, if that suits you.

BUT THEN! The eye contact... nope nope nope... That doesn't check out. That then implied ya got something sentient and alert, maybe not totally working in OUR plane, but able to cross when it pleases...

Now, we're getting interesting...
Depending on where ya stand with the whole "Good vs Evil" thing (let's, for discussion's sake assume it exists), there are bad things out there and good things out there... and humans- we got a bit of both, but noone is all or nothing... I think.

Now, demons? Most likely a real thing. A thing that we've (for better or worse) have collectively STOPPED seeing... for the most part. However, if we look at any history... those little buggers existed... for real. Sure, we can say all the stories from way back were myths and made up... but logically this doesn't make sense... and that's a whole other story. 😉

What I think happened

You ended up in a place where a naughty little other-worldly demon likes to play and pray on the living. Some believe they are able to 'power-up' off negative emotions and fear... again, nothing provable here. It's also possible it was hoping to do you harm by luring you to 'save' him. Luckily, ya didn't.

I would have gone to check too. I can only guess the demon (that's what we're calling it, right?) wanted a last little spike of whatever it was sucking from you (again... this is all very sci-fi and weird... but I'm coming to realize reality is stranger than fiction, if only because reality is where our fiction comes from...).

I'm glad you had other corroborating witnesses if only to make you question your sanity less. That's nice.
