War Games: Xbox 360 Controllers Will Operate Submarine Periscopes
Xbox 360 is a controller devices used to play games like PES, FIFA, Call of Duty, Halo and many more. This is Microsoft product formerly met just for games control, but these devices have a new customer; the United State (U.S) Navy.
According to Military.com, the Navy uses this device (Xbox pads) to control periscopes aboard newer submarines, having inclusive the Virginia class submarine; this are nuclear powered and attacks can be launch with missiles like tomahawk and torpedoes. Older submarines allow one user to view through its periscope, although newer submarines periscopes have high resolution camera and bigger monitors. In spite of this high technological innovation, Navy still used the old complicated stick to control the periscope.
With this updated technology, the Navy can replace this complicated system with Xbox 360 controller (joystick which young sailors have started using) and that is easy to learn.
