Concerning the Isle of Tyyric.

The Isle of Tyyric is a long slender island that perches itself in the north west of Tellus, sitting across the sleeve sea from its nearest neighbour the Imperium of Solial. Upon the Isle rests four peoples locked in a shifting dance of supremacy. The first and largest of the four is the Kingdom of Meradius who controls the temperate south of Tyyric and a portion to the north. Meradius is known for its cultured citizens who trade extensively with the continent, exchanging not only goods but ideas as well. Stalwart against Meradius stands Jor Havat, the Union of Lords. Jor Havat controls a quarter of the warm south but the majority of the verdant midlands with the Union of Lords territory stopping below Meradius’ northern territories. Known for their lust for glory the people of Jor Havat raid the other nations of Tyyric. Each summer they come and each winter they supply themselves through a combination of their stolen spoils and their midland harvests: such is the way in Jor Havat. Straddling the border of both Meradius and Jor Havat is Fuarlond, ruler of the north of Tyyric. Fuarlond has long viewed Meradius northern territories as its own by right of birth but has failed numerous times to capture them. Eyeing the warmer lands of the south and midlands greedily the people of Fuarlond use their rugged land to train for the day they will fight to conquer Tyyric. The final and smallest of the four nations of Tyyric is the Principality of Gwornland. The people of Gwornland are a solitary kind, because of this they had no qualms when Meradius offered to be their protector. As a tributary of Meradius Gwornland enjoys relative peace with its small shires rarely being raided or attacked. The people of Gwornland have one mighty presence though, to the west of Tyyric nestled on the Brystol Channel sits the largest port city in Tyyric: Caer Iraa.

To keep relative peace and order on the Isle is a heavy burden, one seen to be to heavy for the shoulders of the kings and lords of Tyyric. Thus one thousand years ago the various witches, wizards, warlocks, enchanters and the myriad of other disparate magic users of Tyyric came together to establish the Dewin. Under the shadow of total war the Dewin appeared to Tyyric and forged a peace. This peace was created by using the Dewin’s neutrality to forge a trustworthy system of negotiation between the four kingdoms. The peace was then consolidated by the founding of three Dewin academies throughout Tyyric.

Thus, the Collegium Dewin was founded in the capital city of Meradius, Sianelicum. With the academy of Skol Trolddom constructed between the two mighty holds of Jor Havat, Cwat’s Freehold and Tuli’s March. Then finally the carving of Draoi Rock in the northern capital of Fuarlond: Prothburgh. With the three academies created Tyyric achieved a balance of power that has maintained for one thousand years.

The current year given to us by the weaver Zulot’Narr is one thousand thirty seven, the Dewin academies have long since become allies in writing only and tensions rise on the Isle of Tyyric. The stagnation of the past millennium is falling away: but what is shall reveal is known only to the Five.

This is the first of a series of exerts from a current literary musing of mine, enjoy.
