Sanity of the Night
The clock strikes three and the world is a calm and peaceful place. The sky is black but a few stars painted in the distance. The ever busy streets are finally silent and find their rest. My mind is set free from the unrelenting anguish of the day, reality is now only a silly afterthought. My shoes sit in their spot up against the door and my coat waits patiently on the rack. The crickets chirp cheerfully under the stars as the moon brushes against my window with a soothing ambience. The world sleeps for a brief moment of sanity.
