The Steemit "Choose your own Adventure"-Style Story

Hi, Steemit! Let’s write a story together. Here’s how it will work: Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll write a passage, and when I reach a natural stopping point, I’ll give you, the readers, a list of options for how you want the story to progress. And if you don’t like any of the choices I’ve set out, feel free to make your own suggestion! The highest voted comment will dictate the direction the story goes!

Will you try to help make the story as good as it can be? Or will you try to throw in disparate elements and watch as I struggle to weave it all into a coherent narrative? Will it be a well-received good time, or an absolute trainwreck? Either way, who wins? All of us! The choices are yours, and yours alone.

But before we can begin, we need a protagonist. So our first vote will be to determine our protagonist! Here are just a scattershot list of protags for you to choose from! And as I said before, if you don’t like any of my choices, feel free to suggest your own!

1. A down-on-his-luck, hopelessly optimistic salesman
2. New summer temporary hire to a library's night crew
3. An cabin boy, who is too proper to appreciate the drunken antics of the crew of the pirate ship on which he happens to be aboard
4. A space missionary, embarking on a mission to spread the word of the space lord across the galaxy, and hopefully convert some space atheists (spatheists)
5. A group of kids trying to solve a mystery
6. A scientist on the verge of a thrilling discovery
7. An angsty teen struggling to find herself in a new town
8. A kid playing a new phone app that lets you interact with an otherwise invisible world
