Introduction: the Wake Up Song
...hey kid...
The second hand keeps moving, the earth keeps rotating around the sun; no matter who, no matter what... it all just keeps going...
So... what are you doing?
Shit is progressively getting worse out there by each passing tick of the clock, and all I can ask is... what are you doing?
ground radioactive
air poisoned
animals in peril
people starving
people dying
people divided
people of hate
people of greed
people that won't learn
people that won't listen
people that won't understand
eyes closed
sleeping
And I ask again, what in the name of all that is sanity are you fucking doing?
Crying?
Lying?
Fighting?
Cheating?
Stealing?
Polluting with your mind?
Or... are you just giving up?
Go ahead, live in shame; bury your head in the sand.
Hide behind the walls you have taken such care to construct.
Seek your happiness at the bottom of that bottle.
Forget about the pain and the problems by using those drugs you love so much.
Pacify your spirit with an endless shit storm of corporate programming...
...football season just started up again... or reality t.v. or game shows or the news or whatever bullshit garbage you desire to rot your brain with.
Or fuck it, go gorge on fast food and ice cream and candy until your heart finally explodes. Be forewarned, it's not the same as having your heart burst with joy.
Remember, we have to help keep these corporations alive; how else will they keep making those billions if we're not sick, helpless and dying?
Oh yeah and don't forget stupid.
Blissful, right?
And I ask, is this what you want to be doing?
I think we can all agree that this is not acceptable...
And I'll spare you the long speel on how I know that the solution to everything is love, but one day we'll see if I'm right. Hopefully this life has ended by then, so I don't have to brag to everyone.
So the real world: the people, the animals, the plants, the planet; they all need some love. Something seems to keep getting in the way of that need being fulfilled, though...
I'll give you a hint, but you'll have to hunt for it next time you go to use the bathroom. On the wall should be a highly reflective object, either rectangular or elliptical in shape, with a shiny, glassy surface.
Some might call it a mirror... but yeah, look long and hard.
You've got a lot of work to do, grasshopper, but first you have to WAKE UP! You must remember...
