  Lean manufacturing has taken the world by storm.  Companies all over the world are using lean techniques and principles to empower employees and improve organizations.  One of the most fundamental ideas of lean manufacturing is the elimination of waste.  But what is waste?  Lean Strategies International LLC. defines waste as:

 Waste can be defined as any activity that does not add value to the product or service in the eyes of your customer.  This often includes activities that do not transform the product or service in any way, shape or form and all products or activities that are not performed correctly the first time through.
