The Only Writing Advice I Ever Needed (Also Applies to Steemit)
November 1991. I was working in Texas at a fast food chicken shack and trying to support a pregnant wife. My time away from work was spent crafting prose in the hopes that I could write something good enough to be published. It wasn't working out very well. I made excuses too often. I'm too tired. I'll write more tomorrow. You writers know the drill.
One night at the restaurant I look up and see a guy that looked familiar to me. I struck up a conversation and was pleased to discover that I was talking to a popular fiction author. Since we met, his works have been adapted into feature films and a popular television series. I spoke to him about my own writing aspirations. He ended our conversation with an invitation to his home where he could provide me with some resources that might help.
When I arrived a few days later, the author took me to his office. He gave me an armload of small press magazines and several of his books. He was gracious enough to sign the books for me. At one point, I asked him about the secret to a successful writing career. His response was brief and to the point.
"Put ass to chair in front of typewriter."
That's rather profound wisdom. My writing career only began when I took his advice and actually started writing. Once I did that, the ball started to roll.
I'm thinking that maybe the same advice applies to Steemit. You're going to have to put in the time if you want to reap rewards from the platform. The advice applies to any endeavor, really.
Find what your passion is and relentlessly pursue it. Put ass to chair and hand to plow.
I'm actually forcing myself to learn to type faster using online websites. #Upvoted!
That's a good method. It takes time. But I think your skills are very well-suited to videos, and that's an awesome thing in the digital age. I would suck at them.
Yeah I can't come on here and fake like i'm a epic writer lol my energy is best off in motion form.
