Just off the coast of Vancouver Canada, 100 feet under the water there was a whale named Kwaleh (kwa-lay)

He loved nothing more than to swim thru the warm currents of the Pacific and play games with the dolphins. He was a powerful swimmer and would kick his tail fast and fly far out of the water.

Because he was so graceful all the fishies would come out of their homes and from far away too and watch him do tricks.

This was good and bad..

Killer whales eat fish and having the schools so close meant Kwaleh would have lots of yummy fishies to eat. That's great for our friend but bad for the fish!

Before you get sad about lil fish dying just know that's just nature. Even tho Kwaleh ate alot of fish he also helped more than he ate so it's ok..

One day he was doing his tricks when over the horizon appeared a big greasy boat with thick black fumes coming out of its smoke stack.

It was headed towards Kwaleh but he was used to seeing alot of ships near the harbour so he continued to play.

Our friend dived down and swam close to the bottom, he pumped his tail aggressively and sand kicked up as he was headed back to the top.

He was gliding so smoothly when just as he went to pierce the water's surface he got caught up some rope.

The boat was a fishing trawler and it had accidentally caught the whale in its net.

Kwaleh kicked his tail but the net was wrapped around it, he tried to move his fins but they too were caught up in the net. The boat was dragging him and he was hitting himself on the reef.

The sharp corals cut the whales flesh and he began to bleed. The scent of the blood attracted some sharks.

Normally the whales chase the sharks away but the bigger whale was now defenseless.

More and more sharks started to circle and a few of the great whites were getting impatient. They were hungry and wanted to strike. The sharks started to frenzy as more blood entered the water.

Just as the biggest great white circled around to pick up momentum to attack the helpless whale a massive octopus showed up. It smacked the big shark in the nose and he swam away crying.

The octopus turned to the sharks and said, "we have to help Kwaleh now!" He emphasized, "Kwahle is not to be taken by the fishermen or be harmed by you, he is the one to protect and save the ocean!"

The massive octopus began to unravel the net while the sharks bit and thrashed it, cutting the net open with their razor sharp teeth. They kept chomping and pulling until he finally got his tail free.

Kwaleh kicked as the 8 tenacled octopy pulled the net apart. The killer whale kicked again with all of his might and he escaped out of it's clutches.

The net kept dragging away out of the distance and our friend Kwaleh was now free!

Kwaleh swam over to the group and said, "thank you all so much for your help. I was almost a goner, I couldn't have been freed if not for your efforts!

The sharks swam away begrudgingly..

The only one left was "Olley" the octopus..

The octopus said, "Kwaleh we couldn't let u be taken away, we need you here to save us."

"Save us?" Kwaleh replied confused.

Olley the Octopus said "yes, I'll explain it in the next episode.."
