RE: The Process of Writing — The Old-Fashioned Way

in #writing6 years ago

Hey, @denmarkguy.

I can attest to the note taking by hand to work. For a while in the beginning of my stint as a newspaper publisher, I was doing everything, including reporting, which included city meetings. I took a digital recorder with me if they allowed me to use it, but I would also sit and take notes. I almost always remembered better what I had written down then the information on the tape that didn't make it into my notes. It was virtually word for word in my head when I would go to write the story (and I would reference what I had written to double check), but when it was just on the tape, it was just concepts or maybe a principal idea.

So, I don't blame you for taking the handwritten notes.

You're handwriting looks good by the way. Lately, when I've done something by hand, I need to be careful or I won't be able to read it afterward. :) I've pretty much have abandoned cursive for that reason alone, and generally end up writing in capital letters.

I guess that means I'm yelling at myself. :)
