My NUMBER ONE Writing Productivity Method
You having trouble getting words down? I know, it's extremely difficult sometimes. Most resistance is created by thinking you can accomplish pages of writing with will power alone.
The main source of this problem arises with energy. Each person is different but everyone has a limited supply each day.
To fix this dilemma you must trick the mind into producing.
And the best method I've found is the use of the POMODORO technique.
What is Pomodoro?
It was created in the 80s by Francesco Cirillo as a means to increasing production in all work areas (not just writing). Pomodoro is based on working in sprints followed by a short break. Traditionally these sprints are 25 minutes at a time with a break period of 5 minutes. You do nothing but work (or focus on the work) for those 25 minutes, take the break as a breather and begin again.
The simplicity of this technique seems almost too simple to be effective. But try it a few times and you will see. The natural gaming part of your mind will kick in and you will soon try to break your record of how many Pomodoros you've completed yesterday.
The original idea was developed with an old-fashioned egg time in mind. But with today's tech you can easily track your progress and how many sessions you've completed.
Here are some apps that will get you producing and documenting your progress:
