where Are you Men of Courage!

in #writing3 years ago (edited)

You came when you heard the war trumpets blow,
Together we went for war, hopeful that our blood
shall be the rain that will water the seedling of
A new nation we all dreamed of,
BUT
when we reached the frontier, you dropped your
Sword!

Where are you men of courage;
Grandchildren of our forefathers’ ancient dreams,
You who said the war was a cornerstone for
A new beginning?

Where are you men of courage,
You who promised to pay any price for freedom,
even with your blood.
Has fear overshadowed your aspirations and honor?
Have small favors and positions made you forget our
Common predicament precedent to the war?

Look at all falling dead around you, men, women
And children soaked in the pool of their own blood,
Is the sight pleasant?

Does the feeling of betrayal not cross your mind? Soldier.
Will you now put you safely first, your nations,
And family Second?

Have pity on workers toiling day and night
still dreaming of minimum wage,
On your father who dreamt you would study,
Get a job and be someone someday,
On our used- to be corn fields turn into grave yards,
Of our churches and mosques turned into refugee camps,
And of the children left orphans and without hope.
Oh soldier, pick your sword,
Go fight for your countries honor.
