The Beauty Within Us

in #writing7 years ago

There is always a great debate on the word beauty. What is beautiful? How do I become beautiful? Am I beautiful? Why is everyone else’s opinion on beauty different? Can there ever be a person who is truly beautiful? Where does all this confusion come in? In a world where media rules and suggests the norm, we can very quickly see how all this confusion is made.

Media suggests that beauty is the outward appearance, but other written work suggests it is something within us all. Is there a combination of the two? To find this answer one must look deep inside yourself to find what you find beautiful, as beauty is only in the eye of the beholder. No one can put it there for you.

“True Beauty” by Elder Lynn G. Robbins Of the Seventy stated, “What makes a woman beautiful? The world tries to convince us that cosmetics, perfumes, jewellery, fashionable clothing, diets, and even surgery are necessary for beauty.

While some of these fashion aids are desirable and lovely, they can change only surface appearances. The gospel teaches us that true beauty is more than skin-deep. A young woman whose countenance is aglow with both happiness and virtue radiates inner beauty.”

Many friends of mine believe that they must wear makeup to look beautiful, yet they are beautiful to me. Many women believe that they must put makeup on to be able to fit into the bubble which society describes as “beautiful”. Yet there is nothing beautiful about the cosmetics they use to plaster their faces. The cosmetics itself is ugly and quite useless, except for the fact that it is used to cover up what is truly beautiful.

There is absolutely nothing attractive about being able to scrap makeup off a girl’s face. We are all made differently with many flaws that make each of us stand out and make us unique. This is what makes each of use uniquely beautiful in its own way.

When it comes to beauty in the fashion world, we see that it is ever changing. The main reason for all these extras has been lost.

In an article “7 Beauty Trends That Will Be Out in 2017” by Lauren Valenti, we read about these 7 beauty trends that are:
• Contouring – for real this time
• Crazy nails
• Instagram highlights
• Instagram brows
• Holiday – themed eyeliner
• Rainbow dye jobs
• Glitter roots

All these different ways of making yourself look “beautiful” have gone overboard. Fashionable clothing, different trending fashions, fancy jewellery and perfumes, are these things really that necessary to look beautiful?

These trivial things only seem to mask or hide the person underneath, instead of enhancing and portraying the person better.
When it comes to fashion and cosmetics, they should merely be used as their intended purpose, enhance beauty.

The real reason for the use of such products is to enhance beauty and bring out our more beautiful areas. In “True Beauty” by Elder Lynn G. Robbins Of the Seventy explains that, “Make-up, if applied tastefully and in moderation, can enhance appearance. But no amount of eye shadow, lipstick, or mascara could possibly compete with the natural attractiveness of a genuine smile.”

From personal experiences, I have learnt that the best kind of beauty is the raw beauty, this meaning that there are no enhancements, nothing enticing you to what is beautiful. ‘When she has just woken up in the morning, with nothing but beauty sleep to enhance her appearance, giving you a smile that brightens up your day.’

True beauty is not, the beauty that doesn’t just touch your eyes, or linger in the back of your mind for some time. But rather that instant moment when you see that glow from within that touches your heart and stays there forever.

“True Beauty” by Elder Lynn G. Robbins Of the Seventy touches us by saying, “Hidden beauty seen by loved ones can become a mirror for self-improvements. This phenomenon of the person internalizing the expectations of others with subsequent positive change has become known as the Pygmalion effect, after the famous play in which the “guttersnipe,”

Eliza Dolittle, becomes the refined My Fair Lady. The beauty was always there; Eliza only needed help from others to discover it.” When we sit down and truly think about it, every one is beautiful. All we must to do is open our eyes, look deep and find that true beauty.

This is one of the things I wrote for my course, this is the very first one. My course study ID:10342746

Just on a little side note for self improvement. I will be doing pushups, situps and squats for the amount of $$$ (ratio;$1:1) I earn on this post and will give a short feedback every day at the end of each post. This will be split in equally between all 3. Any not done will carry onto the next day.

Agree. Beauty gives shining eyes and good health.

I'm not into makeup because I'm too lazy, but I actually really quite like to watch some types of makeup tutorial. There are a lot of people who are too afraid to leave their hours without this is true, and those people would really do well to work on their self esteem, but there are also a lot of people doing really cool creative things with makeup. I think really it's a person's own decision to decide what they feel to be beautiful and whether it requires makeup or not. True beauty is also so linked to self confidence and to me that means not letting others tell you how much or how little makeup you should wear.
