Cebu Writers' Guild: First Session Announcement

Heads up Steemians!

This post will serve as an official announcement of the first session of Cebu Writers' Guild and an official invitation to Cebuano steemians who wanted to join the event. This is open for all steemians, irregardless of talent and passion. There's no required reputation so newbies are very welcome.

This is also a meet up so everyone is encouraged to join! If you don't want to be left out with the latest in Cebu, you should join.

For those who haven't heard about Cebu Writers' Guild, you can read the introduction here. As a recap, it is an initiative and a social experiment. It is an attempt to have a setting for everyone to share their steemit experiences, as well as nurture newbies to become full-pledged steemians. This is in accordance with the future plans for the Cebu community, as well as Steem Summit's vision to be Steemit in real life.

Let's go down to the details.

The topic is just my suggestion as a facilitator of the first session. Anyone can suggest a certain topic to be discussed. As this will be an open discussion, everyone is expected to share something as the discussion proceeds. We might disregard the topic depending on the need of the participants.

Other topics that might be discussed or considered for the next session are:

1. How to Beautify Your Steemit Post
2. Basics of Formatting
3. Different Curation Communities and Their Role
4. Curie and Its Guidelines
5. Steemstem and Science Posts
6. Different Writing Styles
7. Facts vs. Fiction
8. Prose and Poetry
9. Basics in Photography and Travel
10. Overcoming Writer's Block
11. Incorporation of Other Passions with Writing

Take note that the list is not exhaustive. There are tons of topics that could be discussed. The direction of the discussion will depend on the discretion of the facilitator of that particular session.

After the session, everyone is encouraged to write about something. Since this is also a social experiment, I will be tracking your write ups. You can actually write three topics:

1. About the Meet Up and How It Went
2. Your Reaction About the Session
3. Your Application of the Topic Discussed

It's like hitting 3 birds with 1 stone!

The chosen date of the first session will be on May 12, 2018 (Saturday) at 2:00 - 6:00 PM. That's after I consult some people during the 3rd Open Discussion in Teenvestors Discord Channel. The time is supposed to be open until everyone decides to wrap up the session, but I guess four hours is ample enough.

As a facilitator, I will be in the venue on or before 2:00 PM. If you will be there, please don't hesitate to approach me. As I've said in the introduction, even if no one will come, I will still be there.

The venue was chosen based on proximity and convenience. For those who didn't know where the venue is located, it is in Norkis Cyberpark, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City. It's just adjacent to J Centre Mall and across a Gas Station in San Miguel. Here's the screenshot of the map:

If we can secure a fund in the future, we will have a permanent venue for our session. For now, we will just do cafe hopping and look for the best place to have our sessions. Again, this is a social experiment.

Since this is an open discussion, clashes of different opinions might arise. Here are the following guidelines to abide:

1. Respect the one who's talking.
2. Respect everyone's opinion.
3. Respect others. Refrain from talking too loud. It is a public place after all. Modulate your voice that is appropriate for the venue.
4. Respect the place. Ordering a drink or a dessert is encouraged, but not mandatory. We using the place after all.
