SLC26-W1 // "Introduction Of Appetizers"
This week lessons was really worth it as I appreciate the lessons and the different steps in preparing finger food. In most cases when we have event, we don't sometimes know appetizer to serve but with this lessons I've been able to have different appetizers idea to use for events, party or any gathering.
After reading all the tips and step by step preparation, I went to market and do some shopping of my ingredients to carry out the practical.
What do you understand by finger food?
By the hearing of this word finger food, so many things run through my mind and I do understand it as being a small portion of food that does not require the use of fork or spoon while eating it so it can be easily eaten with a simple use of fingers.
A typical example is snacks because it is usually eaten with fingers, must snacks doesn't need spoon or fork so you can easily buy it from the eatery from the streets food vendors or anywhere and absorb them with your fingers without long protocols of using cutlery so that is my clear understanding of finger food.
I do not know if anything is attached to that but I would like to know and also read from others the idea on this.
Make any one finger food from given recipes in detail step by step with pictures . You can add ingredients of your choice too .
Ingredients
I made slider and below are my ingredients and steps I took in preparing it.
- Chicken
- Sliders
- Mayonnaise
- Salt
- Blackpepper
- Cheese slice
- Ketchup
- Veggies (Carrot,cucumber, lettuce)
I added all my seasoning ingredients to the pot together with the shredded chicken and steam for some minutes.
I added mayonnaise to the slider as seen in the picture
I placed the lettuce on it
I added cheese to it as seen
I added the filling, which the seasoned chicken, carrots and diced cucumber mixed with a little mayonnaise

I added cucumber then cover it with the lettuce and cover the slider and my finger food was ready.

Give some other examples of finger food that you like?
They are much but I will like to mention few such as chin chin, biscuits, small chops, puff puff, meat/chicken pie. Etc.
That's are mostly seen by streets food vendors.
Some tips for presentation of finger food.
Wash all veggies with salt or vinegar to be sure all parasite has been wash off.
Strain water from the lettuce so it won't soak your bread
The filling should be tasty to be sure your result will taste fine.
It should be small suitable for the finger to carry

Your presentation of the finger food is lovely. You showed the step by step procedures of making a finger food.
It is recommended to wash all fruit thoroughly and disinfect it too. Your choose of disinfectant is good salt and vinegar there are common to us and that will make the work easier.
