Hello my dear Steemians,

On our walk we have seen this boat in front of the building that on weekends are open and the local people gather themselves there for often we see how they repair their boats. Majority of boats are made of metal, fiberglass and aluminium because htey have to be resistant and light. Still my preference is old fashined made from wood and usually handmade work. They look compleltely different and it is a different feeling to touch the wood and also smell the paint, like we could do even while passing by this boat. It seems someone had painted it recently and it was there just drying up, on sunny day.

My hubby usually says that he also would be glad to be able to repair such wooden boat, I think repair is good but I do not like to have any boat, maybe because of my motion sickness. It is good that we have better cars that is not so shaky and the roads are smooth. The only problem for me currently is when I am on boat, ferry so to say on water.

Hey @stef1, this is such a charming glimpse into your local life! That wooden boat is absolutely beautiful; there's something so special about the craftsmanship of those older vessels. I love how you described the sensory experience—the smell of the paint and the feel of the wood – it really brings the scene to life.

It's funny how you mention your motion sickness! I can definitely relate. Still, I appreciate your hubby's enthusiasm for boat repair. Thanks for sharing this little moment from your walk; it's a lovely reminder to appreciate the simple things. Do you often see these boats being repaired? I would love to know more about the local boat-building traditions in your area! Thanks for sharing.

Wooden boats have a historical charm that modern boats cannot have. In Italy there is an open-air museum of wooden boats. 150-year-old boats that can be admired along a canal port. Unfortunately such a museum is expensive as the preservation of boats requires a lot of money. I hope it can exist for a long time.
