History, Modernity and Everything in Between | Zurich, Switzerland
Greetings the fellow people of Steemit and the WOX Community!
Let’s do a little recap from my last Swiss posts. We’ve explored the Chinese garden, the Lake Zurich and the park in it and some parts of Zurich mainly the downtown per se. Now it’s time to take you in the heart of the city with some architectural elements and ideas and some high ground cityscapes cuz from what Ive seen the swiss like to have spots like these.
Okay we are starting from the downtown, but i gotta be honest everything there seems like a downtown and some parts don’t look like neighbourhoods but more the downtown of the downtown.
It’s like this city has a center of center of some other center that i thought was the center. It makes no sense, but it also doesn’t need to, cuz it may be hollow but externally it looks like a picture from a postcard.
We are sorta starting from where we left off from the park so enjoy these little streets the you will probably see in Italy or Turkey but in Swiss style surrounded with cathedrals and some very interesting architecture.
Here i have tested my photography skills, cuz it’s very rare to find a moment like this in a crowded place like Zurich with no people walking by so i took my shot i hope you like it.
After a long stroll we were very hungry and managed to find a place that had some spots available, cuz it seemed that without a reservation you can’t even sit in a restaurant in the middle of the day and the only other alternative was street food like Mcdonalds, Burger King etc. and i didn’t want to eat something that i can almost eat everywhere in the world.
Anyway we got lucky and there was only one spot available.
After we ate and got some rest we continued to explore the city and this is probably the part where you will actually see why i said the centre of the centre.
After the first two photos you cross this bridge and then you find totally different center or should i say another downtown?
Im not so sure but this city has two main crowded squares and yes its nice.
I think i might have said it that as hectic as it is the people there are just chilling it’s like they don’t worry about anything.
It might be just me but it’s maybe when they want to enjoy a moment they enjoy it they don’t think about anything else. They are present is i may express myself that way.
Anyway let’s explore this square by going deep into its architectural streets, cuz actually thanks to these streets i probably found the soul of the city.
Okay so after roaming and roaming in this architectural maze of streets i found this hill park-ish looking spot with this amazing view over the city and the river take a look i even managed to do some panorama shots.
I really wanted to upload the whole clip but it was 10 seconds and the file was too large to paste so i cut it in half the best i could.
After that we started going down from this park-ish hill view and yeep you guessed it its another center of the center. Well it was more of the place i came with the train, but it was with a different route and definitely a different are of the downtown.
At that point we wanted to find some other place for drinks cuz it was getting dark and oh my oh my this place looked very aesthetically pleasing with its goofiness and originality it was a sort of a 2 story bar and a restaurant.
Anyway it was getting really late and we had to catch the train to return to Basel and this is probably the last short part of the post and it’s the train station and it’s surroundings.
Okay Folks this is the end of the post i know i make my posts a little long but they are worth it. See you around and we will meet again i am definitely not done with Switzerland. See ya 👋🏻😄
