A bad thing to see crabbing...
In the late winter and early spring we get many types of algae that blooms and floats freely with the currents until it grabs on to any fixed object. We have hundreds of traps that snag this algae which makes for a long day of clearing. When this mass of grass appears out of the depths it means that our pace slows down to clear it off. It also means there are probably no crabs in the trap due to it being hidden under the hundreds of pounds of immense vegetation. Not only is it heavy but it wraps up the line so securely that most times you have to rip it, just to remove it. What a hassle!
