SET SMART GOALS

A goal is a result one aims to achieve. People set goals and most often still do not achieve them; this is because they lacked certain knowledge on setting their goals right. It is called SMART. The SMART acronym means

S – Specific
M – Measureable
A – Attainable
R – Realistic
T – Time-Bound

When setting goals, it’s best to be as specific as possible; this points you in a direction and keeps the central focus your task simple. You must also derive a way to measure your progress. It could be in form of a chart or calendar or event reporting to a friend or mentor on your activity. This shows you how far you’ve gone and how much more you can go.
Your goals must be such that they could be attained as well as realistic. Your goal should not seem or be impossible to attain; although this also has a lot to do with your beliefs. For some, though the goal may seem impossible, as long as it is real, it is possible to attain.

Your goals must be time-bound. Timing is important as finishing your projects and reaching your goals within a time-frame is a goal itself. With specific timing, you can decide how much time to input in reaching that goal. It also shows the urgency and pushes you to strive harder.
Tip: It is best to view your time deductively. For instance, on the third day of a 100-day project, you don’t look at it as 3 days gone; instead you say 97 days to go. Try it; you’ll see its effect.
Setting goals are important, they give you a heading and with it, you know when you get out of line. This shows why it is important to be detailed and specific.
