RE: How Being A "Bitter Bitch" Helps Your Livelihood

in #women7 years ago

I'm assuming some people will read this post and automatically assume you are angry and bitter. "OMG something is wrong with her!" "She's so angry and bitter!" But much of society has painted pictures of what and how we should be/act/do/feel.

We've even gone so far as to use words incorrectly so persistently to alter the actual definition of the word (e.g. literally, ironic, infamous, conversate, terrific, etc.) and look down on those who use them correctly as if those are the ones doing something wrong.

You highlight an important yet rarely discussed topic: it's okay to be angry, it's okay to be bitter. It's okay to feel whatever we feel because feelings are effects and uncontrollable and pure.

When it comes to 'angry' and 'bitter' it's as if no one, especially a woman, has any reason or right to feel these emotions. A black/brown woman even more so. We immediately get the 'angry black woman' stereotype thrown at us, I assume to make us feel better?

Moral of the story: It's okay to feel however the fuck you feel. You can only move on and do better once you acknowledge your feelings. By ignoring your feelings you will fall into a trap of stupidity and unhappiness. This applies to anyone and everyone and in every aspect of life.

Thanks for the raw and unfiltered post.

BTW, was your post poetry?
