Napa Valley Wine Trail | Reserve Blend #3
Total Trail Miles: 33.2
The Reserve Tours are focused on blending wineries within each category to create a 'best of ' wine trail. Reserve Blend #3 is built around different grape varietals. The wineries on this trail include Chappellet (Cabernet Sauvignon), Failla (Pinot Noir) , Jericho Canyon (Sauvignon Blanc) and Reverie (Cabernet Franc).
Start the trail at a winery located in a prestiges mountain region just east of the valley known as Pritchard Hill. Chappellet makes exceptional wine on an 100 acre estate 1200 feet above the Valley floor. The winery is noted for spectacular vistas, complex rocky soils and very high quality fruit. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is special.
Wind your way back down to the Silverado Trail on picturesque Highway 128, make a right and head north another five miles until you reach the entrance to Failla. This is a boutique winery set back and away from the Trail and know for Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. Taste wine in a small cottage next to a comforting stone fireplace or outside under a canopy of tall trees within a pleasant garden setting. Failla is a hidden gem producing some of the best Pinot Noir in Napa Valley.
Make a right on The Trail and continue north a few miles until you reach the intersection at Lincoln Avenue in Calistoga. Make a right and continue northeast for another mile and a half to the Old Lawley Toll Road. Jericho Canyon is wedged in between the valley about a mile in on the left. This winery sits on a unique piece of real estate that features a lively stream, California Live Oaks and multiple hillside vines. Jericho Canyon produces small production Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux Blend and a memorable Sauvignon Blanc. Like Faila, this is a very relaxed experience.
Final stop and well worth the wait, Reverie. Make your way back to Highway 29 and travel south until you reach Diamond Creek Road. Make a right and continue west a couple miles to the winery entrance on the right. Reverie is a winery in the Diamond Mountain Appellation producing nine different varietals including a rare Barbera, Petit Verdot and Roussanne. We think their Cabernet Franc is one of the best in the Valley. Reverie finishes their tour + taste experience by serving wine under a natural circle of Redwoods.
