Maybe one of the most famous wines in Bulgaria is Asenovgrad's Mavrud. Mavrud is one of the best local varieties of grape. Of course there are some cheap wines made from this grape, but there are a lot of fine examples too.
I've never even heard of that variety. Sounds like something to investigate for sure. Thanks for the tip!
