CITY WILD LIFE - The Urban/City Fox

I am very fortunate to live in an area that is surrounded by a lot of shrubbery, and trees, and along with having a garden of my own, I am visited by a wild variety of wildlife that comes into the Garden to see what it can rustle up for breakfast or lunch!

Now before anyone has a go at me for feeding the wildlife that visits, I do make sure that what is given is not bad for them (well as far as I am aware) and by all accounts, what is given is always eaten, so I must be doing something right!

Anyway, one of the very interesting animals that visit the garden at the common Red Foxes that seem to breed at an alarming rate in the inner cities, since their own natural habitat has been wiped out by builders, all hell-bent on creating more housing for people, and all at the expense of wildlife.

It's quite incredible just how each one has its own characteristic, and the faces are all unique so that knowing what one is visiting is very easy to do.

The image above is of one of the last years younger cubs, who always looked very sad and lonely to me when he came visiting. Unlike the other foxes that visited through the year, this little fella seems to have vanished from visiting in 2018, while the others continue to do their rounds searching for food. I hope its a case of him finding his own patch to wander, but sadly the death rate if the urban/city fox is very high due to them getting hit by vehicles as they rush across roads searching for food.

I hope to follow the new batch of visitors this year quite closely via video and photography, so if anyone is interested, keep an eye open for any of my posts about nature and you may get lucky in sharing my time with these lovely looking creatures.

Great photos of the urban fox, we rarely see these - just because our urban area is very urban. I love wildlife - and strangely enough it’s something I have not encountered on Steemit - wildlife photography, you might have found a good niche their.

I am very lucky to have such a wide variety of animals around me, though when you have 7 foxes all sitting in the garden, suddenly jump up and stare at you when you drive into the driveway, you know that you have to stop being so generous to them with food! I must look that photo out that I took, as it was pretty incredible to see them all react at the same time!
