KRACK Wi-Fi attack, the of the WPA2 era or?
Recently security researcher Mathy Vanhoef teased a countdown to something which revealed to be a new security vurneability on the WPA2 Wi-Fi enryption protcol that assured the security of or data in wireless networks.
This attack works most modern Wi-Fi networks. Any attacker within the range of your or any network can manage to exploit your connection and even disable SSL data trasmision to man-in-the-middle spoof or read your data.
He also discovered that most Android, Linux, Apple, Windows, OpenBSD, MediaTek, Linksys and many other are affected by some variant of the attack. More information about specific products can be found here
The KRACK attack can be seen on this YouTube link. To be honest, it does sound a look terrible.
But we can be happy, this exploit won't end the WPA2 era. It is just a logical error and it can be patched and we hope that it will be soon fixed so we can connect to Wi-Fi networks without thinking will someone hack us. For the time being it would be a good idea to use celluar data.
