Well in order to make a living a on steemit some people do have use bots and sell votes to maintain a certain amount of income. While I do agree somewhat with your article, lets not forget that there are indeed businesses based around the steemit blockchain.
Me personally im a fan of the NEW tab. Too much great content gets unseen on here.
You are correct but if selling upvotes is considered ethical then upvoting your own comments should also be considered ethical. No one should write posts against upvoting their own comments as they are also here to earn income. People talk about only one side of the coin, they don't see what actually they are doing and their actions are affecting this platform!
Me personally I wouldnt sell votes but I do upvote all of my own content
