Financial saga

“Hey, Angela what was that all about?” Saul asked angrily.
“What was what about?” Angela replied in a mocking tone.
“Why would you pay for our dinner? I invited you out to dinner and you embarrassed me by paying. And you stand here to mock me”, Saul exploded
Angela turned away to hide her laughter, for Saul always looked comical when angry. Did he know he was so cute when angry?

“I am talking and she is laughing”, Saul queried his invincible audience.
“Okayyy, I am sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh but you are so ……”
“Don’t you dare say cute”, Saul interrupted. “Don’t you dare say it”

Angela smiled, “ok, can we talk when we get to my apartment? People are starting to stare”.
Saul looked around and nodded in agreement.
Getting to the car, “oh your fuel gauge is reading low”, Angela observed.
“Thanks, I would buy some on our way”, replied Saul.

At the fuel station, Saul’s card was rejected and he had no cash left on him.
“Try the card again, in fact change this your machine”, Saul queried the attendant.
“Oga, it’s not working jare. Give me cash abeg, we no get another POS”, the attendant queried back.

Saul was getting uncomfortable as his situation was drawing annoyed responses from other car owners. Angela came out of the car trying to find out what was happening.
“Is everything okay?” Angela asked.
“Yes of course”, Saul replied.
“Madam, na lie ooo, POS no dey work and he no get money”, the attendant butted in.

Angela gently reached for her bag, took some money out and slipped them into Saul’s wallet, as Saul was still arguing with the attendant.
“Hey honey, I found some money in your wallet”, Angela said.
“But I don’t have…….”
“Oga see money for your wallet”, hissed the attendant.

Highly embarrassed Saul paid and quickly drove out of the fuel station. Too embarrassed to talk, Saul and Angela had a quiet drive to Angela’s apartment.

“You did it again, you embarrassed me again. Twice in one day, how could you do this to me? I thought you loved me?” Saul exploded once they were inside Angela’s apartment.

“Oh I embarrassed you, well sorry, sorry that I thought to help. Sorry but did you expect me sit still and watch an attendant embarrass you because their POS was not working?” Angela responded a little agitated by Saul.

Saul noticing her tone calmed down, “thank you Angela, but you did not have to help. I will repay you the money.”

“Of course I do have to help. No you don’t need to repay me, I am not one brokeass babe, Saul. I work, I earn a substantial amount of income. I don’t intend to be a dead financial weight in this relationship”, Angela spoke up.

“But the man is to provide, that’s my job to provide”, Saul tried to convince Angela.

“Saul I understand you are the traditional-all-providing-man, and I love you for that. I love that you give me this sense of security and safety, but do you honestly think you can sustain this relationship financially all on your own in this present economy?” Angela queried.
“Well………” Saul couldn’t find a good and honest answer to beat her logic.
