Mars OG is a cross between OG Kush and SFV OG with origins in the Bay Area, but take it from this seasoned toker, this bit of Cali's finest will be taking you much higher than Nor Cal.

Let's talk about the meds.

Note: I didn't take any pictures for our first review, I enjoyed the bud much too much before I had the idea to write about it. F**k it, we're here to talk about it not see about it.

CATEGORY 1: TOUCH. 4.4/5

• Texture: Lots of furry leaves and fine fluffy hairs coat the outside of this bud. There are hairier buds out there, but quite a couple strands adorn. 4.4/5

• Structure: This instance of this Mars is dense! Short and wide buds lend to the compact feel of the nug, almost like a ball of somewhat brittle clay when squeezed. The bud compresses where squeezed but cracks around the side of the fingers. 4.6/5

• Stickiness: The stickiness is readily experienced by breaking open the buds. Not a very sticky strain simply to touch, lots of trichomes shoot off when you crack open a nug. 4.4/5

CATEGORY 2: LOOK & SMELL. 4.2/5

• Color: Light Green-Green with many little orange hairs. The slightly lighter color may indicate slightly drier, but still very beautiful medicine. Shiny with crystals. 4.0/5

• Smell: A very piney-forest smell. A slight hint of fruitiness comes from behind, an indication of the slight hybrid nature to this specific instance of the strain. 4.2/5

• Shape: The buds are short, medium sized nugs with cone shaped tips and fat bases. Definitely indica dominant. Symmetrical apperance. 4.4/5

CATEGORY 3: TASTE & HIT. 4.0/5

• Flavor: Spicy! Almost like hitting a peppercorn grinder. Has a tingle to the tongue and a mellow pseudo-citrus taste to it. Not much depth to the flavor, feels like nothing much more to offer than the spiciness/light tones. 4.0/5

• Smoothness: Very smooth on the inhale. Exhale has a slight bit of a harshness to it. 4.3/5

• Aftertaste: Begins as a floral lightness that ends as an almost fresh cut grass. Wouldn't really want to hit it without a beverage. Might definitely be a curing issue. 3.7/5

CATEGORY 4: HIGH 4.6/5

• Mind: Has a creeping effect on the back of the skull, and slowly mellows out anxiety and stimulates mental relaxation. Not a very strong mental high, but it's not meant to be so with an indica dominant hybrid nature. 4.2/5

• Body: STRONG. You don't want to move much after hitting this, and if you keep it up you'll want to go to bed. Great for appetite stimulation and sleep aid, but would look elsewhere for pain relief and hyperactivity. 4.7/5

• Strength: STRONG. It won't take more than a bowl or two to show you a trajectory to Mars. The OG character lends fine west coast kick to the Kush haziness. The high itself quickly grows on your tolerance for some reason, based on strength expect the eighth to last you a hair past an average eighth. 4.6

• Length: The high is a mid-range high lasting about one and a half (1 1/2) hours. The peak comes on a little bit later as a mild head creep, hitting fully around the 20-25 minute mark before trailing off. After effects (warm glows, giddiness, laughter and body heaviness) can last upwards of three and a half (3 1/2) hours with heavy use. Then again, with heavy use, you may be asleep. 4.6/5

FINAL CATEGORY: PRICE AND VALUE 4.7/5

Coming in between twenty-five to twenty-seven dollars USD an eighth ($25-27), HHC Plus gives a fantastic value for such a powerful medication. Including the freebies they throw in each time you visit, big points are earned here. 4.7/5

THE BOTTOM LINE:

From the stoner on a budget to the cannabis connoisseur, at such a bargain this take on the Mars OG from HHC Plus is a solid choice for your bowl at home. The taste is somewhat lacking and doesn't sit as well as can be expected from certain OGs (the Mars being included), but the bang for the buck more than picks up the slack in the flavor department.
