How to Earn Money as a Writer in Web3 (Real Info)
In the past, if you wanted to make money as a writer, you had to get published in a magazine, work for a company, or beg people to read your blog. Web3 has changed that.
Right now, you can earn crypto just by writing useful or interesting content — if you know where to post and what kind of writing people pay for.
I’m writing this as someone new to Steemit, but I’ve been researching platforms and testing things. If you’re a young person like me trying to build something real, here’s what I’ve found.
1. Join Platforms That Pay Writers in Crypto
Steemit – where I’m posting this. You get paid in STEEM for upvotes. Your writing needs to get attention or support from curators.
Mirror.xyz – focused on web3 writing and publishing. You can crowdfund, sell writing as NFTs, and build a crypto-native blog.
Paragraph.xyz – good for people who want to build a crypto newsletter.
Read.cash and Publish0x – they pay in Bitcoin Cash and ETH-based tokens for good posts.
Layer3, Dework, Bounty platforms – sometimes offer tasks that involve writing for crypto startups (like blog posts or guides).
2. Write the Kind of Stuff People in Web3 Actually Read
If you want to make money, you have to write things people want to read and can learn from.
Here’s what works:
Explainers: “What Is DeFi?”, “How Layer 2 Works”, etc.
Opinions: “Why Most Web3 Projects Fail”, “Crypto Scams to Avoid”
Tutorials: “How to Set Up MetaMask”, “How I Made My First NFT Sale”
Guides for beginners: People always need beginner content.
And don’t try to sound smart, just be clear and real.
3. Offer Writing Services to Web3 Projects
If you’re good at writing, you can get paid directly by crypto startups.
They need:
Website copy
Whitepapers
Twitter threads
Medium blog articles
Project summaries
Tokenomics explanations
Find them on:
Twitter (look for projects under 10K followers)
Telegram groups
Discord servers
Bounty boards like bountyxyz or crew3
DM them with a sample and a price. Many of them are looking for cheap, fast writers.
4. Monetize Attention
If you post consistently and people like your stuff:
They’ll follow you
Projects will reach out to you
You’ll be seen as someone who knows what they’re talking about
It starts slow, but it builds fast if you don’t quit.
Real Advice to End This With:
Don’t fake anything — post what you know, learn out loud
Focus on building trust and value before money
Use free platforms first, then go for client jobs when you’ve got samples
Keep posting, even when you get no upvotes at first
Thanks for reading.
