Reminiscence

Now, I look at the rain and wonder at the not so little girl I used to be, that teenager that feared the rain, what was it about the rain that made her feel so sacred and anxious, was it the sound, the feel, the thunder or the lightening. Looking back as I stare at the rain, I realize it wasn't any of those things, it was the feeling of helplessness she felt, the thought of her loved ones out in the rain without shelter, the knowledge that a high number of accidents occur in the rain due to the slippery roads and the haste in everyone to be home, warm and dry with their loved ones, no one really wants to get stuck in the rain and when it floods, the fear she felt extends to the motorists who are stuck between looking for safety and not abandoning their vehicles, you might wonder what is life compared to property, in the real sense it is something that bears no comparison but thankfully in the end we all come to that realization; no matter how much we value those things, life still remains the most priceless possession of all we do have in this world and that was her true fear; Life.
