I think I am fundamentally lazy.

I hear about athletes making tens of millions per year, or star actors making millions for a single movie, and my gut response is, "Why not retire and live on the interest income?"

If I somehow came into millions of dollars, I might still dabble with writing, but I would essentially retire and not make an effort to earn more.

That's not a critique of those who continue to work until they have potentially hundreds of millions of dollars. Presumably they're having fun at what they're doing.

But I'd probably just buy a big piece of property and operate a sanctuary for rescue hounds. That sounds more fun to me than any paying job.
