Water Development Board concerned about cutting dams to protect the haor crop
The water development board (PAUBO) and the haorans have expressed concern about the miscreants cutting the dam to protect crops in Sunamganj. For this reason, the PIC has been asked to keep a watch on the dam through letter from the Water Development Board.
The flood warning center of the water development board said that they are feared to be violent in the haor area of Sunamganj in the next 72 hours from 30 April. It will increase the water from the borders of the border and increase the water of all the rivers in the haor area. For the same reason there is a danger of damaged paddy rice due to haor and excessive rainfall. According to the flood control center, it could be 250 mm rainfall.
It is mentioned in the letter that, on April 26, Tangua Haor, the IUCN-made Mutantana crop protection dam was cut by the miscreants. If the rain falls on heavy rain in April 30, then the dams of Pubo can be cut immediately. Therefore, until the boro crops of haor are kept in the house, it is said to keep a watchful eye so that the dams can not be cut off.
Executive Engineer of Sunamganj Water Development Board Abu Bakar Siddiq Bhuiyan said, "We have constructed and repair 14-kilometer sinking dam in Haor this year to protect the boro crops of Sunamganj Haor by facing tireless labor and various adversities. Haorans are now preparing boro paddy to build the dam properly.
According to the weather forecast, due to heavy rains from April 30, water will increase in the river's haor area due to heavy rains. For this reason, people, PIC, administration and police administration must be careful to protect the dams from the miscreants. Due to the cut off of the miscreants, the condition of the situation in Tangua Haor was created. The countrymen have seen it through the media. Though there is less paddy land, but there has been an adverse reaction in Bangladesh due to the media coverage. If the dams of the water development board cut off the miscreants, then what is the impact of the public will be easily understood. For this reason, Pubo has sent letters to every upazila in Sunamganj to keep a watch on the dam.
Executive Engineer said. Abu Bakar Siddiq Bhuiyan said, "I call upon the government to give examples of those who are involved in cutting this dam."
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Swapan Kumar Saha said, "So far the cultivation of paddy of 1.44 thousand hectares of land has been cut. Boro cultivation has been done in the district of this year at 232 thousand hectares. If you can cut the rice from these lands, then 8 lakh 75 thousand metric tons of rice will be produced. But due to labor crisis, there is slow pace of rice. '
