It is very hard to accept that you were injured in behalf of just something ugly, or that your son or daughter died unnecessarily. Our soldiers and sailors are heroes AND victims. One can applaud them for their willingness to put their lives on the line for our country and bemoan the fact that their courage and sacrifice was not really for that. And some of our veterans were courageous also in behalf of their buddies, which is often very praiseworthy.
