War = ratings

During World Wars one and two it was newspapers, news reel, and radio that disseminated the news. Today it is via various media: radio and television, and social media.

Both war and pandemics are great for ratings. During the pandemic the hoi poloi were mandated to stay at home / work from home. During this time the television watching went way up - along with the ratings.
