RUNNING IN THE MARITIMES #7 - RAILS TO TRAILS - HUBLEY

in #walkwithme7 years ago (edited)

Today was an odd day, not much sunshine, although occasionally she peeked out but didn't really care. It was not really cold, just kind of damp and murky. So out I went and today I was joined by @seareader1 as she couldn't wait to come and join in for a virtual run.

We had the best of times today as we decided to use the Rails to Trails today for our run. The Rails to Trails is an old converted Railway line that is now used for hiking, biking, running and walking. The entire Rails to Trails goes from Halifax to Chester which is 47km long. Oh relax we are not going that far. Also for ATV's. Don't worry they go slow. You might even see the odd horse and rider, (but watch out for the horse droppings.. :)))

This was @seareader1's first run with me and she was nervous but I assured her that we would go really slow, maybe even walk a little and take time for pictures. So we parked the car and the first thing we see is a Bench.

No, no we are not sitting down yet. Maybe when we are done.

We head to the trail and we study the map and decide which direction to head in, and today we pick Hubley.

It is quite muddy in spots but we carry on anyways. We know we are just going to kind of run slow and steady with a bit of a ramble now and then. It is not muddy everywhere so we will be ok.

We are immediately in awe of the fast moving river as we can hear it before we even reach it. We are careful with our footing as we do not want to fall down the embankment into the water.

There is a bit of blue cloth, not sure what that is, maybe we don't want to know.

We could marvel at the river all day but we really must move along. More to see, oh and more running.

Everytime we reach a new area it looks different and that is what makes it so interesting. I call all of them my favorite parts so get used to that. However, I do love this area.

Its about 2Km of nothing but birch trees. So beautiful in all seasons. But in the heat of the summer it is the most beautiful place to be in the nice shade.

Off we go again and here we have a another favorite part. I must say @seareader1 is doing awesome. I believe she has the hang of this.

We come to a bridge with a small lake one one side and a river on the other and you will be able to see that it is indeed an old railway line by the steel girder.

Now off we go...more to see and more running to be had.....

Oh my what have we here ...a very large mushroom

Running along we can not help but notice quite a bit of flooding. We have had so much rain. Some snow and run off. But still lots and lots of rain. This amount of flooding is concerning.

Realizing there is nothing we can do and hopefully it stays off the trail we move along. @seareader1 is still doing so awesome considering this is the first time.

Here we go, another favorite part. What can I say. It does not matter what time of year I come to this part, it has some beauty for me. Often times it is a blaze of blue and purple. Today even in the dull day of the end of February it had beauty to me.

Come on @seareader1 keep up now, we still have some more to see before we hit our turn around spot.

Ahhh another favorite spot. A lovely small lake, with a very slight covering of ice. No fishing huts now. They have all gone away. Too much rain this year.

Oh look..@seareader1, we have finally reached our turnaround spot. I know, can you believe it. We chuckle at the name of the new section of this trail.

After our chuckle and realizing we are not going to have rum we head back. Finally we are back to the car and I check on my shoes they do not actually look too muddy at all.

See....@seareader1. I told you that you could do it. You did real awesome.

You did so well as a matter of fact, that I have invited you into my home for a snack. Nice refreshing cranberry juice and what every runner always gets after a race, a banana.

I hope you have enjoyed our Run in the Maritimes today. If you would like to be a part of the Virtual Run with me just let me know.

Namaste

It's very beautiful, is any fish there? I'm a fishing hobby, so any view of the river like that I want to fishing..haha

Very funny about the horse thingy, but to my surprise I have seen the horse and riders twice. and the dung. hee. I thought it all odd, but hey it is rural. Yes to the fish, people fish there in summer and winter. Probably lake trout, or bass. Thank you for stopping by

Haha .. so funny , but I love the location, I dream when I can get there and we running together .. hehe

I am from Aceh, here the weather is always hot so we will never feel the winter :( :( , , I hope can go there to enjoy the snow while running :( :(

you will need several things for running in the winter. I just might do a blog about it..like warm pants and long underwear and warm socks.and two layers of shirts, and a jacket..gloves and hat.

Haha .. yaap, sure .. I really like to see snow .. I wait for your blog, show us the beauty of your village.. ^_^

Ok.you way way far away. I just did a short blog on winter running and what you should wear and I have included some winter pictures for you to enjoy. :)))

Wow amazing, the winter and beautiful road with the bridge and trees :-)

this is really lovely @marionbowes a very enjoyable trip.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a visit :)))

That trail looks pretty good to run on. Its nice that there is no snow. Here in BC we got a snow storm and are covered. That one big mushroom would cost alot if they sold that in a store hahah

Beautiful nature to explore by foot. I like the small river, uphill road, bridge, mushroom..
Nice pictures, all of them!

Thank you so much. Glad you stopped by.

Wowwww!!!!! EPIC #WALKWITHME @MarionBowes!! WoooHhoooo look at all these photos for me to feast my eyes on! I loved your shots of the path with the stands of birch to either side. And how cute you even gave @seareader1 a cran juice and banana! Sooo cute!!!!!!!

It is so beautiful up there that way..we really must go. when there is less muds and the kids will really enjoy it. Its quite beautiful all in through there and beyond. Thank u

Yes, I was just thinking the other day how much I'd love to go down there while the trees don't have any leaves <3 <3 <3 Before June then we'll go lololololol !!
