It is Nigeria's independent day, the giant of Africa will be celebrating her independence, after 1914 amalgamation Nigeria is now 58years of age, we have journeyed from first republic to the third republic, we have lived and survived the civil war, military reigns has come and gone and now we are in civilian rule of Democratic system of government,
But after all this years an average Nigerian is still asking are we independent indeed? do we even have any reason to celebrate? at 58 Nigeria is still struggling to put in place the basic infrastructural amenities , the rate of poverty and hunger is rapidly accelerating, civil service is neglected and looked down upon , our educational sector is at it's apex of decadence, our economy has never been stabilized for once, unemployment is still the plight of our young graduates, our leadership has been evolving round a particular class and families, a country with over thirty natural resources has just one source of revenue, and today oil has made our nation lazy and corrupt, power they said corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, the men in power has become above the laws, the judiciary has lost it's sword of justice and are now unreliable anymore, we are asking are we indeed independentimages.jpg from our own brothers, from
Corruption
Nepotism
Tribalism
Partisan politic
Looting of public funds
From the military rule
Electoral malpractices
Violation of Human Rights
And many other vice that has been colonizing Nigeria since 1960 till date
But in all this Nigeria is still standing and I know that after this storms the sun will rise. HAPPY INDEPENDENT NIGERIAN
