Klopp hits out at Premier League scheduling after Man City thrashing
While the Reds manager was delighted after a vintage performance at Anfield, he could not help but look forward to an upcoming early kick-off
Jurgen Klopp called for the Premier League to "think" about when they schedule fixtures after seeing Liverpool record a resounding 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the first leg of the quarter-final tie at Anfield on Wednesday, though the Egyptian was substituted early in the second half with a groin problem.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane increased Liverpool's lead in an astonishing opening half to the all-Premier League clash.
However, Klopp's squad have little time to celebrate the result as they have the small matter of a Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday.
The German questioned the decision to book Liverpool an early kick-off time at Goodison Park, giving his injury-hit squad little time to recover from their European exploits.
When you look at the injuries, I do hope selling Coutinho isn't going to come back to bite us on the arse.
That said, it's now really all about the CL. Chelsea and Arsenal have been terrible at times this season and Liverpool would have to be pretty terrible themselves domestically to allow either of those two to take their CL qualification place.
The higher we finish in the top 4 will be better for us of course and we do have a fairly easy run-in. So, we could yet even finish second.
In the CL though, that's where we're devoting our energy, now. We have a damned good chance of winning it and even dominating it over the next few years.
All managers like to have a whinge at the FA, don't they? ;) That's what being successful is all about and Klopp has got this team looking very good, now. Expect to hear him whine a lot more in the future! ;)
