My Weekend in London | Jordan Peterson, Vegan Dinner Parties and a YouTube Announcement

in #vlog7 years ago

This last weekend I took a long overdue trip back up to London.

Much needed. Such wow!

Being vegan at Christmas time can be quite a challenging time. All the turkeys, the chocolate, the cheeses. Its never ending, much of what is consumed isnt suitable and that can leave you feeling a little deflated. So amongst friends, we planned a great vegan "Christmas" dinner in London. Yorkshires, stuffing, nut roast, brussels, roasties, gravy, mint sauce you know the drill!

Cooking it was a bit of a nightmare, it always is.

New kitchen, new oven, new experience.

We had this silicon style baking tray which was a nightmare. Don't try and roast vegetables on them, they don't heat up properly. The vegan Yorkshire didn't rise either, and then I forgot to even serve the stuffing up! My favourite part, left for the vultures!

However, once we sat down and started eating it all became worthwile. I cant speak for the others but I THOROUGHLY enjoyed that meal. I tried putting chopped apple into my maple and walnut brussel sprout dish and. it. was. heavenly!

Overall it was a great night. I had missed those guys.

(Just vegans doing vegan things...)

On the Sunday, we went for lunch at Zizzi's. A pretty good place for vegans. I tried their new Vegan Pepperonata Pizza and it was damn tasty!

Then we had tickets to see Jordan Peterson, at The Emmanuel Centre, discuss his new book: 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos. It was a surreal experience. The first person we met was a woman who had travelled on her own from HUNGARY!! There was a great mix of people there and its testament to just how much of an effect he is having on people from all walks of life. He walked out to a standing ovation and he just couldnt beleive it. He looked truly humbled by the experience.

The talk itself was fantastic. (review coming soon) I had heard much of the material before but there was something about this repackaging that really hit the sport. It felt like he had finally connected the dots between the different concepts he has been speaking about recently.

PLUS...!!! It was in a frickin CHURCH!! The imagery was certainly not lost on me. The venue was probably the perfect place to host Dr Peterson. For both his Religious themes AND the slight idol worship surrounding The Good Doctor. But its understandable, this is a man who is inspiring people, from all walks of life, to turn their life around and be the very best person they can become. He is the Anthony Robbins of our generation. He truly is.

Its inspired me to get right back on to the YouTube horse. I had been stagnating over the Christmas period, humming and harring a little bit too much but Dr Peterson has inspired me to start a 30 Day YouTube Challenge.

30 days, 30 videos.

Hopefully, it'll help me learn to be a little more proactive and a little less perfectionist.

The book arrived yesterday, so I guess I'll go get my teeth sunk into that.

Have a great week!
