A beginners tale of Crypto
I guess it started in 2012
Back in college I did a project on Bitcoin for a finance class. It was a beautiful 10 page paper on Bitcoin's history, the reason why people would use it, and how people were currently using it. Unfortunately, I did not invest any real money into the technology because I was a dumb college student that wanted to spend money on drugs and alcohol instead.
Fast forward two years to 2014 when a roommate at the time was heavily invested in Bitcoin. He tried, to no avail, to get me to invest in bitcoin. That was the same year of the Bitcoin Bowl
On Twitter, there was a guy giving away BTC to buy a beer if we made him laugh, offered something interesting about the game, etc. I managed to get a tweet to him that made him laugh so I was awarded .025 BTC which was, at the time, enough to buy a beer. Now, that would be worth $376. So, I purchased a $376 beer. At least it wasn't a million dollar pizza.
This was the story of my cyrpto life up until 2017.
My First Crypto Purchase
In August of 2016 I moved from Florida to D.C. to start over. Get a new grip on life, and kinda escape some toxic relationships that I had in Florida that were bringing me down.
I found a really shitty (and I mean this place BARELY passes the DC housing code) 3-bedroom basement on craigslist. To give you an idea of how bad it is, the entire rent for the basement is $1260 per month. That same amount will get you a tiny one-bedroom flat just outside of D.C. Anyways, the rent was month-to-month; giving me the opportunity to move out once I got back on my feet financially.
We had about 5 different guys move in and out of the smallest of the 3 rooms in my first year in the basement. Eventually, a crazy old man moved in. He never slept in his room and was constantly sleeping in our tiny common area and it drove me nuts. But he unintentionally turned me onto crypto investing.
I once overheard this geriatric roommate go on and on about Ethereum and how companies were rushing to try and adopt this new technology. The recluse that I am, I never actually spoke to him about it in person. I would just sit in my room and listen to him yell about how his social security checks were not enough.
But I eventually looked into the technology, liked what I saw, and invested a couple hundred dollars into Ethereum and Litecoin.
Ever since then I have been addicted to the cryptocurrency investing scene. I've made 5 firends get into it and they have seen their portfolios increase dramatically.
Hopefully 2018 continues to bring me good trades and happy days.
