Unicorn sword in the Imperial Treasury Vienna
Dear Steemers,
the wonderful sword you see here is caled "Ainhürn", which translates to "unicorn". It is displayed in the Imperial Treasury in Vienna (Schatzkammer Wien), a museum dedicated to crown jewels of the Habsburg monarchy.
The sword was crafted between 1425 and 1450 in the area of todays Netherlands. Just in comparison, this is the time, the famous Ming-dynasty ruled in China.
The handle is made out of narwhal tusk (therefor the "unicorn" name), gold, enemal, ruby and pearls.
A truely astonishing piece oft craftsmanship!
