"Betty Boop" Snow White - 1933 - Cab Calloway & Fliescer Studios
How cool is this rendition of Snow White? The visualizations and renditions of the past have a much different feel than those in the 21st century. What makes them feel so ominous and menacing? My guess is that artists began to learn how to distort their visuals in a way that could transform their characters from worldly beings to "supernatural" and physics-defying puppets. Thus, the industry took off with odd and not-before-seen depictions of human beings being turned inside out and their arms turning into clock hands.
