Hi stemians, it’s been a long time since I last posted, welcome to my space again

As many speculate by my publications one of my hobbies is to collect videogames, sometimes I come across the most interesting articles, in this case I could come across this console of which I will speak a little today.

Today I will speak briefly about the
Pokémon Pikachu 2 GS.

This small console that looks very similar to a Game Boy is part of Nintendo’s not too well known virtual pet series ''Pokémon Pikachu'' starring none other than our favorite electric yellow Pokémon Pikachu⚡.⁣

This specifically is the Pokémon Pikachu 2 GS a direct ''sequel'' to the 1st Pokémon Pikachu and was released in 1999. These consoles were quite innovative as they sought to mix part of the dynamics that made virtual pet wings successful and adding a pedometer (step counter) making their gameplay based primarily on going for a walk or exercising with them, every step you took in real life was recorded by the console and after taking a series of steps (20) they were transformed into ''watts'' which was basically the currency of the game, The more you played, the better your friendship with Pikachu got, the more watts you could then use to buy and send very rare and exclusive items to your 2Gen Pokémon games (Gold, Silver and Crystal) through the mysterious gift option. In addition, you could use those same watts to ''bet'' with your Pikachu in a minigame of pure luck and chance to quickly get or lose more watts.

The latter is rather curious considering that currently the developers games removed all the casino and gambling systems from the current games as they could ''bring the younger public to the gambling market.''

The main difference of this sequel with the first console is that this Pikachu takes care of itself and should not be attentive to its needs, removing some dynamism and taking it away from the essence that had the first.

In Conclusion

This console is quite striking, all this game dynamics and above all the connectivity that allowed you to have with your game in the games of the main saga made it an addition that more than one would have wanted to have at the time, And even if you weren’t a big fan of Pokémon games or you weren’t a great friend of the little yellow mouse, it was also a good acquisition if you liked jogging as it was a great step counter for your time.

Also a little interesting fact is that this small console also served as inspiration for the Pokewalker system that came out a long time later for the remakes of the second Gen.
